Hi everyone. I guess I'm the newest one here right now, so I'm introducing myself. My name is Akos Moldovan, I live in Hungary ( Budapest ) and I own a 1975 Buick Electra Limited Park Avenue and a 1976 Buick Electra 225. They are a nice couple. :) Both are 4dr hardtop sedans. The '75 Park Ave is a daily driver althought the fuel is very expensive here but I don't care and it's not becasue I'm so rich but I prefer driving these cars to going to pubs or something. And I have to tell you it's not because I don't like beer but rather driving a Buick than drinking beers. :)
The '76 Electra is sitting currently and waiting for the day when it will be the daily driver again and the '75 will be the showcar. (at least it's my plan ) The Park Ave just arrived to Hungary in February (I bought it on ebay) and the '76 was my daily driver before. Huh, sorry if this short story was not so clear. :(
Anyway, just wanted to say hello and thanks to admit me to this forum.
    Akos

Wow! Actually, I just found your site and registered myself, so didn't know there was another guy from Hungary. Anyway, I just saw Attila's Riviera a few weeks ago coz our Buicks have the same car mechanic.

Welcome to the board Akos. I am Hungarian myself but was born in the US. My parents escaped during the Revolution of 1956 but do go back and visit every few years. I have been there myself 3 times but my last trip was back in 1975 I believe. I know things sure have changed! I have many relatives there throughout the country. If I can help you with any info let me know. What town do you live in?

Akos, welcome to V8Buick! I wonder if my wife spotted your 75 Buick on the street a couple weeks ago? :) Her new job took her to Budapest and on to Debrecen for a week long business trip. At the end of the trip, she and a co-worker spent a Saturday sightseeing in Budapest, and really enjoyed the day. Sounds like this trip will be on her schedule every 2 - 3 months now. Would love to go along on one of the trips, but I don't think we could sneak it by on her expense report... :error: Her only big complaint, other than jet lag, was too much butter and cheese in the food.

    Here's one pic she took:

If you think the petrol in Hungary is expensive, come over to the Netherlands to fill up your tank.

You pay 286 Hungary Forint / 1.14 Euro a litre for 98 unleaded,
    here we pay 1.51 Euro / 375 Hungary Forint a litre......

Yesssssss! Probably she saw my Buick becasue as I know there are only two 75-76 Buick Electra in Hungary and I'm the one who own both. And
as I was born in Debrecen and my parents live there I go there several times in a year so if your wife was lucky still she could see my Buick there too. And I hope I'll find my Buick on the next photo that your wife took in Budapest.

My god! Of course!!! It's my '76 Electra! :TU:
As you can see one of the previous owners painted all the chrome parts black (... ). Anyway, I'm happy that it's not a problem with the '75 ParkAve, it's it fully chromed as it has to.:)
I think we can meet in Komarom, coz I'll be there too. :)
And yes, of course there are more Buick in Hungary and as I can see it's getting to be very popular to have a Buick for the people who love us cars. When I bought my first Electra there was only a few Buick in Hungary.
Yes, you r right, maybe the petrol is more expensive in Netherlands but if you would compare our salaries then maybe you would be suprised. :( Anyway, the point is that old US cars are cool and that's all. :)

Uh, I hope you won't be angry with me why I always put the quotes in the bottom of my replies. I promise I'll change this silly thing in my next replies.

You should come to Zuchwil, Switzerland this Sunday May 6th for the American Live meeting.
Over 2000 beautiful American cars there.......:TU:

    Photos from last year

We will be there with at least 8 cars from the Netherlands.

That's funny, I only see a visitor from Germany in the last 30 minutes, nobody from Hungary.....

I'm on about the banner under this message, not my member profile.

Uh, I didn't know that! The only concern is that I have 3 little children and it's not so easy to manage going to this not so close meeting with them. :(
