Anyone have any experience with the repro front control arms that are available from TPP, YO, ss396.com, etc.? How close are they to the originals? How good is the quality? Any other comments?

    Thanks,
    Ira

I like them. The ball joints are put in with bolts and not rivets but so are all the original arms that have had their ball joints changed.

They will save you a ton of time relative to original arms with pits that need removing.

    Jim,

Did you find the repro's to be an accurate reproduction? Do they seem to be as strong, e.g., is the metal the same thickness?

    Thanks,
    Ira

Try Original Parts Group as well. They I think have Buick Specific ones. All GM A bodies had the small hole in the spring pocket in a different place to index the spring end. if you use a Chev part your ride height may be off. Also the Chev used an Oval rear bushing in the lower where Buick used round.

Ball Joint rivets are also available from www.amkproducts.com but I have know idea how you would put them on But I want to figure it out. I hate the bolts they look wrong.

Looks like they have some nice complete bolt/hardware kits. Since the only A body they list is a Chevelle I wonder how compatible the kit would be for our cars.

The upper control arms on both of the cars we did for Jim are originals. Reproductions lack the correct markings, although that is a detail that is not scrutinized in most concours judging.

I have not used or seen them, but they would save considerable time, if you originals are rusty.

Todd. bolt kits will have all the wrong head markings and many will not be correct for Buick anyway.
