'65skylark The signals work fine (left and right) in the back... but they dont work in the front, what could be causing the problem? Any ideas? thanks guys
First check the grounds for the front wiring harness, most likely the problem. Then all that wiring goes through the headlight switch, next place to check. Lastly would be the direction signal switch, hopefully you have a shop manual with the wiring diagram so you can figure out which wires are which!
the headlight switch being a seperate circuit should have nothing to do with your problem unless someone has incorrectly "rewired" something in the past. if your turn signal indicators in the instrument panel dont work either, you have a problem between the firewall and the steering column. but if the signal indicators DO work. then your problem probably lies forward of the firewall and the grounds on the core support would be the first place to check. take a test light and ground it to the battery and the probe the blinker wire for whichever front blinker you are testing .... if the test light flashes .... you have ground problems.... if it dont ... you may end up finding severed wires. has someone been hacking on the wiring in the past? what happens when you turn the parking lights on without the blinkers on? what happens to the front side marker lights (if your car has them) when you turn blinkers on with the headlights on/off? keep us posted.
hhmm Well everything else works, the lights in the instrument panel and the lights also work when the car is in park..so i'll try your suggestions and see what happends. thanks for the help :TU:
understand that im not talking about your dash lights. i am talking about the (green?) light on the dash that flashes when your blinker is on.
