Fuel surge valve question

Bought a new fuel system for my 70 gs. The ful tank vent surge valve in the assembly manual shows there is a restrictive cartridge that goes in the tip. The one I ordered did not have one. Can this cartridge insert be purchased separately? Is it needed at all?

Also once installed and clamped in place is the tip of the valve the end of the line ? The tip just stays there in position or does another line go from there?

    Rob,
You are in the Automatic Transmission Forum. To answer your question, all you need is a filter material that will let air pass but keep fuel from leaking. You can use something like the filter material in the crank case breather element. That's the filter that clips into the inside of the air cleaner and accepts the hose that goes to the valve cover. Just cut a piece, and stuff it in there.

Yes, the tip of the valve is the end point.
