I have a '78 skylark. Yes, most people could care less about the X bodies but i kinda like them.

There is a 231 v6 in there right now and i got a good deal on a '77 nova 305 engine from a guy for $50. I wanted to swap the engines and from what i understand, the '77 novas and '78 skylarks both have the TH350 tranny in them. I got the engine mounts from the nova also. You think it would work, wouldn't you? Well, the bolt patterns were different. Am i missing something here? help me out guys

on powerglides, 350, and 400 turbos, for the most part, chevy has their own tranny bell housing bolt pattern. buick, olds, and pontiac (and maybe cadillac) share a different pattern.
there are adapeter plates available from places like Transdapt and other tranny part companies.

Buick 350... much better and easier to swap.

Also there is a diffrence from my understanding on the amount of clutches in the 350 turbo on a V6 car and one that came with a V8
It was one less clucth per assembly IE. Forward clutch assembly and reverse. As for the X body I would not know anything about them:Brow:

    droz,

the 350 bolts right in with all the factory stuff, using the v6 m/mounts. you will have to rework the throttle cable to work along with the bracket. not a big deal. exhaust, jsut take it to a good muffler shop for it. i had mine done with a big cat and pipes back to single inlet/dual outlet muffler. but now its just headers.
