Accidently deleted previous thread - oops ! ou: Looking for Glove Box (#1383737) for a '68 Riviera non AC. '68-'70 Riviera non AC, or '68 LeSabre,Wildcat, or Electra with AUTO AC will fit - any and all help appreciated ! :beer :TU:
Randy, I pulled the glove box from my 68 Electra, and alas, it's part # is 1383736-1. :ball: Will this work for you??
Bummer Tom - Sure it's AUTO AC, (Automatic Climate Control) or just AC (Climate Control)? That contradicts the numbers shown in the '68 Chassis & Body Parts Book - not that it's necessarily correct. 1383736-1 won't fit (too deep), and I have two of them ! ou: I had two parts cars with AC - and my resto was a non AC. I didn't need three glove boxes and threw the worst one away - guess which one it was. :ball: :ball: :ball: Really appreciate your effort Tom ! :beer :TU:
Randy, I just learned another lesson today. I wasn't aware that one could have either AUTO AC, or regular AC climate control, back in 68, until today. My car has the regular AC, climate control. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. :ball:
That's part of what this car thing is all about Tom, and you never stop learning ! ou: At least we know the chassis and body parts book is correct, and you get a big E for Effort - Thanks Tom ! :beer :TU:
How true that is. :TU: Happier now to have contributed one small confirmation to the Buick parts world, and thanks for the thank you, (my cheeks are turning crimson  )
Whats The Dif? Hi Randy-Whats the difference between Auto AC & Standard AC Climate Control? Can you post a pic of the Auto AC?.I'll be checking into the glovebox liner today.I have a feeling it may be for Standard AC though. Jeff
Glovebox Jeff - The easiest way to id Auto AC: On the Control Panel faceplate at the bottom - Auto AC Unit shows: Automatic Climate Control The standard AC control panel shows: Climate Control Sorry but I don't have any control units to post pics. :TU:
What part is it you're after? Is it the actual box compartment? Or the whole thing or similar? There's a 70 riv at a yard here, but I won't be back out there till the 13th when it's half price weekend. It's a no a/c car I believe, cause there was no compressor or mount for it on the alt. bracket. Anything else you would like me to look for?
No Luck Randy-Finally had time to check the Wildcat glovebox liner-It's not the one you need sorry. Jeff
Kimson - I'm after the pressed fibre glove box compartment from a non AC Riv '68-'70, - held in with 8 philips screws (you'll need a short stubby screw driver) around perimeter, - may or may not have p/n 1383737, on rear outside flat portion. Don't need anything else, thanks !:TU: Looks like this:
Glove box liner Thanks for checking Jeff, appreciate your effort ! What box is in the Riv your taking apart ? :beer :TU:
Good, I'll check on the 13th.. Not a part that usually gets taken, so we could be lucky. I'm just worried that they've already crushed it, the place turns over like 120 cars a day.
I had it unscrewed and I was taking it out, and then it broke :ball: .. The paper/fibers were so brittle it just fell apart. It was a no a/c car, it looked just like the one in the picture, I'm sorry man.
Arrggggggggggghhhhhhhhh ! ou: Not much to say, but 'THANKS' for the effort Kimson ! :beer :TU: I guess I'm still l@@king - bummer !
Well I took out 2 glove boxes out today, one with A/C and one without and they both had the same part number. Will a 69 Riviera work? We have a 69 with A/C I haven't looked at yet. Deep in the woods.
Glovebox Hey Jarrod - '68-'70 Riviera non AC , or '68 LeSabre,Wildcat, Electra with AUTO AC use a #1383737, which is the puppy I'm after. All the rest use a #1383736 which will not fit. The '69 Riv with AC deep in the woods will not fit. I assume the numbers on the ones you removed were #1383736 ? Appreciate you taking the time to look Jarrod ! :beer :TU:
