I figured body work is what this is considered...:)
Putting a 70 hood on a 72 car. Can the 72 hood nose trim be put on the 70 hood? What about headlight bezels, to use 70 or 72? I planned to Keep the 72 grille and bumper if possible.

I should mention the 70 hood is fiberglass. I also have fiberglass front fenders I plan to put on. Should I not run any hood springs? Id love not to run hood pins at all but if I must I must. I do however want my hood to hinge, and not be lift off, even if I end up having a hood prop rod.

Anybody done some of these things, have advice? Thanks all

I bought hood springs for my fiberglass REINFORCED hood from Summit and they worked great. If you bought the fiberglass hood that is not reinforced then do NOT use hood springs. I sold mine so I don't remember if the chrome strip will work, but put everything else together first. If you are using the 72 grille then you need the 72 bumper and headlight bezels. Just hold a 72 hood trim up to the hood. I don't think it will trim correctly but you could try it and then try a 70 skylark and 70 GS trim piece to see which looks the best. You can always fill in any holes that are misplaced. The hood is fiberglass and easy to fix. Good luck!

For a glass hood you have to change to lower tension springs...you can use 1973-1981 Grand Wagoneer springs...works great and I sold many of them.

If you are using the stock Skylark 70...you are in for some fun...you will then have to use the 70 headlight bezels, bumper, grill, bumper brackets etc....each year is specific....so for 71, you have to use 71 hood lip, headlight bezels and grill....same goes for 72.

70 -72 hoods are basicly the same - your 72 hood trim should work on your new fiberglass hood. you should be able to keep all your 72 front parts.

You need to remember the 70 Skylark hood has a recessed groove/area above the hood lip trim....will not work
with a 72 hood trim....he needs to provide pics for best help from us.

70GS fiberglass hood, to replace a factory metal 72 Skylark hood.
I was thinking I could put the 72 metal trim on the front of the 70 glass hood. To fill that gap because I will keep my 72 Skylark Grille.

The trim on the front is partially painted.

Here is a pic of a 72 (from the web)with an unpainted hood trim:

So, it seems like the 72 headlight bezels will be fine. THe only conflict concerning bezels is the grill, and since they are both 72 I am fine there. The 72 hood trim fitting the glass GS hood is the remaining concern, if it does not, I may have to modify something. Maybe just modify my grille or hood with some kind of add on so there is no gap between the hood and grille.

You should be able to install all your 72 parts on this hood
