What you need to do is create a distraction...
Get lined up. Light up both bulbs an wait for him. Then when he lights up both bulbs... Just before the tree comes down... Start honking the horn and keep honking it.
Maybe you can get a second or two head start. Its just an idea. But maybe it will work??? :TU:

Thanks! I drove that truck every day for 4 years, with a mid 12 sec 454. I still drive it 3-4K a year. I have alot of fun raceing it. I get tired of the same old camaros, mustangs, etc. However Im getting really tired of throwing away 1.5 seconds running that lifted truck.:af: That iron headed, pump gas engine ran 10.09 @ 133 in a 3500LB camaro. As for your buddy, tell em you'll race him "Doller for doller". If you droped the kind of $$$ into your car has. He may get beat by a V6!:beers2:

Get some slicks, if you get that 60 ft time down to 1.55 instead of 1.85 you'll find your 6-7 tenths VERY QUICKLY.

With slicks I might be able to get the 60' even lower than 1.50. Rollins Speed shop here in G'ville wants me to bring the T in so he can "fix" the suspension to guarantee I launch in the 1.5's before we run. Between Artie's ideas and Rollins I will get my 60 down where it belongs. The guy who owns Rollins has his and his brother's cars running in the 10's with 1.55-60'. That would be the biggest distraction as Bernie says he will run street tires as his handicap. I know he will blow them away possibly giving me a full second head start if I run a 1.5-60' instead of what he knows the car runs now at 1.85-60'. The time saved and momentun from the harder launch might be enough to hold him off. He would blow by me at the traps but I might be able to get there first.

I wasn't really looking forward to this race but with the suspension changes I've decided to spend the money on, maybe it will be alot closer than I thought. It might be a fun race.

Bernie is a good guy though as he gave me a free oil cooler and 12v fan he had laying around for my turbo.

Is he running street tires as in Drag radials? Or just plain street radials? If he runs plain street tires you will likley win. My low 10 sec camaro would blow of street tires at over 75 mph in drive. I don't think it would even run 11's with those tires. And I would have probably crashed. Get that 60 down in the high 1.4's, and add a small shot of N2o. You will win. Then just don't race him again.

The race will be at Gainesville Raceway here in Gainesville, Florida.
    No topless cheeleaders!

He is running plain old 275X15 white letter street tires. He says nothing hooks on the street so why burn off drag radials, besides he does not street race. I can't imagine trying to drive his car on street tires. I have not been it it since the motor change. At the track I would think he will put on the drag radials but who knows maybe I can talk him into keeping the street tires as a handicap but he will blow the drag radials away too at a test and tune because everbody drives through the water box and drags water all over the starting line. We will talk to the officials and try to run right behind the slick cars to get a dry starting line.

Like I said previously if he blows the tires away off the line or launches real easy so he doesn't spin and I do the suspensions fixes and nail a 1.5 launch where he expects my usual 1.85-1.95 I might just put enough distance between us to win.

Unless he is baiting me and shows up with slicks and wheelie bars (Bernie does not like to lose). He's a very savy racer who plays his cards close to his chest, I can't take anything for granted. We have one more month to prep the cars.

you could get a bigger turbo, or even run more boost with race gas, with your current combo, ive run 29# with 116 race gas in the past. just watch out for the KR

My buddy Bernie took his Chevelle to the track and went 10.32 @ 140+ MPH with a 2.15-60' spinning the first 150-200' on regular 275X60 street tires on his first and only pass in this Florida heat. I am going to need a perfect run.

    Darryl Roederer Life is good

Find someone with a white turbo car like yours, that runs high 9's, and do the old bait and switch on him. Have your "evil twin" get outa sight quickly once he exits the track, and when your buddy meets up with you, have your hood open and be making comments like:
I'm pizzed, it should have run an "8"...
I think I spun tires for the entire 1/4 mile...
I'm gonna use the 500hp nitrous for the next pass...
Oh, look, 2 of the plug wires were off, that's why it only ran a "9"...
I'll make sure to turn OFF the A/C for the next pass...

    :bla:
