I am looking for a set of tires for a 3/4 ton Chevy. Used to tow a big camper with it but now it may tow a 5000 pound trailer 2 or 3 times a year. I tried tireracks survey but everybody there hated everything. Looking for good ride, low noise and good wet weather handling. Any recommendations?
Firestone Steeltex A/T . Great traction , smooth ride , quiet . Any Goodyear Eagle product I've ever tried was noisy.
Seems Firestone has been making some good tires lately. The truck belongs to my 86 year old mother. Anyway will check out everyones suggestions. Thanks.
lots of choices out there. our shop sells a lot of HANKOOKS and the customers like them. forget MICHELINS, way overpriced.
I run BFG Radial All Terrain TA's on both of my trucks, '74 Chevy 1 ton and '89 BroncoII, they make little noise and handle weight and weather well. I drove the BroncoII through 16" of snow with no problem.
Whatever you choose, check the weight rating of the tires. They need to be rated for the weight capacity if the truck (i.e. 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, 1 ton) or you might as wel just have a 1/2 ton pick up.
I run Goodyear "Silent Armour" tires on my '07 F150 4X4. Very quiet highway along with great in the snow/ice. Same tread pattern as the Wrangler series tires, maybe a slightly different build or compound. I can easliy get 100K km out of a set as I rotate every 5K when truck is in for grease/oil.
I'm on my second set of Michelin LTX-M&S Load rating E on my 1 ton superduty. Excellent all round tire but highway was my major concern. They have always served me well even when I'm being stupid and running the triple digits :bla:
