So Sad....Numbers matching, running driving GS 400. Bucket seats, column shift, shorty console. Rusted out rear sail panels, vinyl top car. How much would you pay for this car?

Same guy has a complete '66 GS, seized motor smashed in passenger side quarter and door. He won't part either car, thinks he'll get $2000 for each without parting them?

Is this Dans Garage in Washington State? If it is, I spoke with him a couple of times about cars. He seemed to be quite reasonable. Apparently the 66 is complete, rust free, needs the 1/4 and door. He will include the parts to fix it. Still, 2000 seems a bit high, but...??

Yes, that's the place. I've been trying to get him to part these cars for about 10 years now, I ended up giving him the parts to fix the '66 when I moved down here to Arizona (i.e. a '66 Skylark 2dr ht, rust free parts car). The '66 GS is a bench seat, column shift car with a seized 401 and extensive body damage, not worth bringing back in my opinion. He could get the $2000 parting it out but why won't he do it? I run into this all the time and slowly watch these relics rust into the ground.

I had one of his cards, can't find it now. You could call directory assistance, area code 509-Kennewick, WA listing for Dan's Garage. Good Luck!

Parted out hundreds of rough A-bodys over the years, & just don't see any way, either of those rough Buicks will part out for over 1K a piece, much less 2K  The yard owner is on drugs if he won't get off 'em for "something reasonable".

Last '68 GS 400 parted out 18 months ago. Had bought the grille & hood, years ago for $125. Gave $90 for the car at yard clean out auction. Basically, the '68 yielded 1 fixer fender, complete chassis with thick alum drums, boogered up floorshift column, pair of half rotten '68 buckets, Turbo400 core, T400 yoke, rear bumper core, a 2.93 pegleg, set of '68 door window regulators. Very little sheetmetal was salvageable. Results...processed frame for the IMCA chassis boys. Gave the rusty shortblock to Buick buddy for helping me stack frames. Alum drums went for one of my Pontiacs. Ended up tearing the buckets apart...lower springs were trash. Column, ended up gutting it for the screenwire tube. Needless to say, if I'd paid $500 for that terd, doubt if I'd ever break even.

Anybody else have an opinion as to Market Value?

Yeah, people like this should be :spank: Damn price gougers!:moonu: :blast:

It doesn't take much common sense to know if no one's buying, your price is too high!:af:

Look like $500 cars to me, and I'm in the most inflated market around. If the 68 has a 3 series carrier and is posi (and is in usable shape), it'd be worth a couple hundred more, front disc add another hundred, power or reclining seat add another hundred, tilt column add another $50.

I'd have to agree, $500 seems more reasonable but out of the question for the owner. I always look at the value of these old parts cars as the sum of all their parts minus the amount of work it will take to part it. I would pay as much as $1200 for the '66 and $800 for the '68.

if the '69 is as you say....$1200-$1500. it is a numbers matcing big block car. and if te body panels are fixable or if they come with the sheet metal to fix them...$1500 is not that unreasonable.

if te price is $500 either way, it is worth the extra money to save another GS.

Save? That 68 is a parts car, look at the rust coming out from under the vinyl top, theres probably a softball size hole in both sides of the trunk pan.
You're a better man than me if you pay $1200 for that and then restore it.

    WAR!

Okay, we want dan's garage to sell the buicks, right?
We all want the buciks (obviously). Well, we can't all have them, since there's only 2. So, whoever gets them, will make use of them and give them an honorable death, or continued life.

**so, let's send dan harassing emails or that one thing with a lot of people's signatures to him. Who's with me?**

(or we could go and take them both in the middle of the night):Brow:
