Welp I didn't see anything in my 71 Buick final asm manual, then realized (Duh) it wouldn't be there because Fischer already had it installed. So I cracked open the Fischer service manual, but it only shows adjustment, (and I expect the same from the 71 Buick service chassis man). Better ask all the guys with "X's". :Smarty: o No:
Duane? you out there? Duane seems to be in the know, being a judge and all, on most things related to "correctness". Maybe he'll ring in and make the call. I thought I remembered seeing his name on the same site I found the info which was the GSX registry site.
I would consider talking to someone into GTO's on the trunk lid torsion rods. There were so many GTO's that came with a wing, that if they are different they should be readily available. :Smarty:
Ah Ha Found this in my parts book: 12.181 SPOILER, REAR DECK LID 1 1237533 1970-72/GSXSEE NOTE/SUP 1235717/ NOTE WHEN USING ON A 70, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO USE 2 REINFORCEMENTS 49866601 AND 1 EACH OF ROD # 8790659 AND #8790660. So I am led to think they increased the rod diameter for the 71 model year, which is why only 70's need the 2 rods listed above when adding the spoiler. :TU: :bglasses:
yes there were different siize springs for the gsx wings.in fact i had a 81 z28 with a spoiler that the torsion spring was broke and it too used 2 sizes of springs from the factory per the the chevy dealer here in town.
