Hey guys, I need a little info about the GS hood grilles (70). I finally got my hood in the paint stage, and I need to know what and where to order to fill the openings in the hood. I am not using the stock GS air cleaner but the Poston ram air front spoiler and air cleaner instead. Can anyone steer me in the right diection? I'd take good used pair or where to order repro's.
Well http://www.classiccarinteriors.com/products.htm Duane has the 71's, and I don't know if anyone does the 70, 72 styles.
Thanks Dan and Rick. I'll get with Duane and see what I need for mine. Any idea if I need the backing plates or do the grilles bolt in without them?
I believe the 72 hood grill has fewer open holes in the D/S grill than the 70, due to the triangular shape of the Ram air cleaner on that side. Not something you would notice unless you were looking for it......Of course the 71 are plastic and unique to the year.
There are small differences . The repo looks correct for 72 but it is made like a 70 . The whole thing can be purchased from poston or year one . poston is a little cheaper . The only thing you need is to block off the plates to keep water out of the distributer . I made a set from 1/8 inch plexiglas , shaped it like the flat lower plates and installed longer screws and a little clear silicone . If you do this let the silicone set up for a couple of hours so it will not stick to the lower plates .
I know PAE has the 70 scoops, seal plates, and grill inserts. You might want to check with them for your year. The Parts Place also has seal plates and grill inserts.
