well i am pretty much looking for one or the other. i just want to mack sure it has the air inlets cut out so that i can keep the stock look for my gs, i just need a new hood cause the old one is rusted out
Have you asked one of the fiberglass hood maker if they would cut out the inlets for you and prep it for the grills? I highly doubt that OPGI produces it's own glass hoods. They buy them from somebody, their just not saying who.
I've spent 3 months looking at hoods. Steel repros? None. A guy in Tulsa has 2 NOS hoods (he said $7500.00 each), and there is always ebay (for you folks that live in the 48 and can afford to ship it). I did get to see an 'OPG' hood in Maryland last month. It looked good. Next month I'll bring all my trim out there to see how it fits. The OPG hood will have to do until I find the real thing. I also have a perfect Skylark hood, and I'm contemplating fixing my gs hood with donor parts. I've never had good luck with hoods though.....
you looked at an opg hood?? does it have the inles cut out? they told me that they are cut out when i talked to them on the phone
Fix 'yer Hood ! I have had THREE GM A body hoods fixed..took a stock Skylark hood and cut the spot welds and the "glue/foam" underneath, separated the two halves, sandblasted the insides, coated, etc, look like NOS when done right. Did same thing for a GTO hood and my Cutlass 'S' hood. I will take pics of the Cutlass hood , its in my garage, when done right no one can tell, and it is suprisingly easy, just need a REALLY GOOD spot weld cutter and be PATIENT !!!
The only problem is my GS hood is rusted all along the front inch and a half or so, inside and out. I would have to take the first 2 full inches of the skylark hood and graft it on to the GS, or graft a majority of the GS hood onto the Skylark frame..either way...not fun. Still looking for other options, but until then, fiberglass it is....
where freak6264 where are you (you need to put a location on your information) I might be able to help you out with a hood
Location- Ewa Beach, Hawaii- as for a pic of the fiberglass hood- its on the OPG website- if I get better pics when i see the hood again in person- I'll post them...
No no dude, a pic of your DAMAGED/RUSTED hood. Whereas you are looking at shipping costs up the ying yang, repair may be a not as exspensive as shipping on in form elsewhere. So howsabout some top and bottom pics of this rusty hood ?? There are some guys on here that are metal wizards ! :TU:
