We just want to go on record as saying that we have no problem with the GSCA. We give them credit for taking a piece that was high in demand, making it and selling it at a very reasonable price compared to buying NOS. :TU: There are many happy people out there with that grille. The statement was originaly directed at another person/place (I'm sure anyone who has been following the board knows who this person is) that was going to contract the same company that made them for the GSCA. We have heard through the grapevine that there are a few problems with that grille, air bubbles and the plastic being somewhat brittle due to a low pressure mold. Since that statement we (The Parts Place and the other person/place) have begun to work out our differences so that we can all get to work on some much needed parts for Buicks. We appreciate clubs like the GSCA and many others, it the love of the people for their cars that allows us to keep coming out with new parts. We did not come up with the idea of remaking this grille. We did not really want to come out with this grille, but after our injection molded 71 grille came out, we feel we have no choice but to give you guys what you want. That is why we came up with the idea that we would have the whole 68-72 plastic grille line by the end of 2006. If the demand is great enough we will make it.

I still don't understand why false facts has been written on the grills I shipped to GSCA.
If you have issues with a person/place, they're is no need to get someone else's product involved. :error:
One has to be carefull on internet boards, it's easy for someone to make false statements, it can happen to anyone (I can have 50 persons in a few hours saying that someone's product is junk.... that's easy). What's difficult, is to recover from bad-intentioned statements. So I hope in the futur, actual facts will be discussed. :Smarty:

The 1970 and 1971 grills that are available thru the GSCA, are made from a far superior plastic than the original. The original was made from ABS and the reproduction are made from the same material as modern car grills (if somebody is interested I can provide the resistance/torsion/heat tests on that material).
The first prototype grill that was made more than a year ago (GS nationals 2004), had a couple of air bubbles (about 10 the size of a needle). Worried about that, the moudling process has been changed, and the problem as been corrected, (that explains the delay we had).
As for the next repro grills to be made, I will vote for a friend that needs 2 1967's. I hope you will be able to ship them to France as the 1967 GS's were imported in Europe (I believed assembled in swisszerland).

    Regards
    Olivier

Thanks for setting that straight Shane. I have one of the GSCA grilles which I ordered as soon as I heard about them, long before anyone else announced an interest in repro grilles. I cannot find fault with the grille and was curious what you found at fault (in case I missed it!). I like the idea that your grille comes painted and with studs so its ready to mount. I still have that left to do with my GSCA grille. Hopefully we can all work together to keep our Buicks running and looking nice. Thanks for all your support.

We are done posting on the faults of the 70 Grille from the GSCA. My only question is that, why would someone who already has that grille; still say they want to buy ours, when our 70 grille comes out if they are perfectly happy with what they already have? :Do No:

Hi Shane,As someone who has purchased a GSCA repro 70 GS grille I can tell you that there is nothing wrong with them molding or material wise.I got to compare them to the NOS grille the mold was made from and they are exact. The GSCA was the first to announce and make availible a wanted grille for the Buick hobby, and then Frank with the 69 GS grille.Jim is correct in his view of when several options are availible to purchase the same part then their will be some people who will buy from one source or the other for different reasons[ie. painted or not, studs,GSCA member or not, like or dislike of seller, past experience with seller,price,location,ect.ect.]But given that Buick guys have had little if any chioce of major repro Buick body parts then the company that comes out with a part first will get sales if thier part is a nice part[this is a given]. Now when there is two or more suppliers making the same parts sales will get moved around for some of the above reasons;that being said I can not understand why the Parts Place would make the 1970 GS grille next in line for production of the whole 67-72 grille line unless you wanted to cause harm to the sales of the other company making the 70 grille. It is clear from your own poll the 67 grille is needed as badly as the 70,a NOS 67 grille just set the record price for a buick grille on ebay selling for over $2100.00!!!!!Buick owners don't need two suppliers making the same parts at this time because so little is availible to the Buick restorer now.If you are going to make all the GS grilles why not start first with either 67,68,or 72 GS grilles which no one is making at this time? But you are going to do the 70 next and what then the 69??I guess that would be the best so called "business move" as it would discourge the other suppliers from making more parts.I am not against business competion as I think it does keep quality and prices in line for the consumer but with as much open market for needed repro Buick parts I see no reason for you to make some of the parts you are making that are already being made when you could be concentrate on other needed parts that have no supplier at all.
