Sounds like a recipe for fights from pushy grudge racers, and a bunch of typical tools with junky ass s10's spitting axles all over track. Buick guys in general from my experience have well put together cars . Unlike the new fad where guys push 25lbs of boost or 300hp of N20 thru stock bottom ends and dont care what happens to the track or the guy next to him seen it all to often

Wouldn't it have been nice to inform all GSCA club members of this, instead of "sneaking it in" on Yellowbullet? I'm guessing that if he (B.J.) would have done that, he would have gotten too much resistance and piZZed people off before they even arrived at the event. This year for me, (as a spectator) I will actually like to see a variety of cars, but it doesn't make it right. If I were bringing my "race car" there to run I would not be real happy about not knowing anything about it and finding out in this manner.
I really wish someone could/would take over the Nationals. Even if it were turned into a BOPC event it would at least still exist and possibly flourish, but the direction it's going in I can't see it being around for too much longer.

Bill, you hit the nail on the head. $$MONEY$$. Like you I dropped out of the "club" about the same time for that reason.

Some guys never miss an opportunity to bash the gsca and nationals.

Btw Fred, seems to me when you list your parts its all about the $$money$$! Never seen you do anybody any favors. Besides, if you dont race, you arent a member, and you dont attend the why you open your mouth?

    Jim,
I can relatively understand your response, but MY GOD, don't you think that even an outsider would see that there are issues here?

People that wouldn't know about this, pull into Beach Bend just to find it full of locals and who knows what, to race with and along side of us....not just one day but all week long? Heck, why not have them enter the race on Saturday too? At that point what's the difference? We could have some good grudge races lined up after running with them all week.

If this is the way it's going to be, why don't we all just meet at a regular weekly event somewhere and call it a "GS National's event".

I love the Nat's and the GSCA as much as anyone. This will be my 33rd year in a row without missing ANY! Buick passion doesn't run much deeper than mine!

But...... I still think the GS National event is headed in the WRONG direction. Sorry if this offends anyone, but the facts are the facts!! Anyone can clearly see that.

I agree with Steve 100%. If it is a revenue thing why not offer to make it a BOP event?

I would say that due to the timing here, they waited as long as they could, but then took a critical look at the number or per-registered cars and realized that they were going to go under financially.

Just guesses on my part.. but a reasonable assumption.

I have attended sporadically over the years, and race a couple times, so I will keep my opinions on this move to myself, other than to say that it's probably a sign of the times.

I will miss this year's event due to untimely work stuff.boss won't let me have off . I've heard from afew buick racers say they don't preregister due to the fact they don't do rainchecks.might as well gamble.thst said I hope they charge these locols the extra fees we have to pay.i can see why they worry about finances but this close to the event?? Don't think that they had any time to notify anyone.just depere at this time.it used to be fun street racing the locals years ago but to enter our event turns it into a non event.like Steve said,it's a long way to come for a lo payout anyone run event.

    Steve,

I did something very uncharacteristic for someone on this board. I actually called And got the lowdown first hand. Per Richard, he didnt know about it and it aint happening period.

So put the pitchforks away guys.

Interesting.. went on that Yellow bullet thread, just cause I thought it was going to be tough to put the toothpaste back in the the tube here..

    Scroll down.. Renegade shootout?

Buick Body OR Buick Power it says.

First I heard of this. Not that I really think it is a bad idea, but it sure has not been well publicized. It is a change tho.. Buick Body AND Buick Power has always been a big deal with the Nats..

I am starting to question this whole deal now.. Richard does not know anything, and the original YB post is written by Big Geek.. and signed GS Nationals Race director.. No real names.

So either is is all a hoax, or those running the nationals are not communicating with Richard.

Be interesting to see how it plays out.

Renegade class is true, and apparently will be done due to racer demand and for something different. This has been discussed for several years.

Open t n t for event duration isnt happening per Richard.

Jim thank you for contacting Richard I would have Friday b4 sounding the alarm but the office was closed and I don't have Richards personal contact info. He was DEFINITELY first on the list Monday morning tho. If it seems as if I pulled the handle to soon I'm sorry but I didn't want to let the fire get too big too fast so to speak.

Renegade has been advertised quite well on most social media sites such as Facebook and others. You hit an unlimited audience and very easy to access. Not saying this site does not work just so many more people you access for viewing and marketing purposes. Its not secret either several of the major players of Turbo Regals are going to be building other cars with Buick turbo V6 power plants to race in upcoming Outlaw Drag Radial events. If you want to find out on items or events log on and create a Facebook. Like McDonalds, billions and billions served. It was a major force for the Super 16 Reunion having a great attendance of class participants as I was able to post several hundred photos of the "Glory Days" and motivate many people who had not had their cars out in years in one case since the last time they ran Super 16 in 1993 which is what the event was all about. We brought people and cars out of the woodwork. I wish many more cars who I had located and touch based with over last year could have came but some could not finish their cars others are too ill some did not have the finances available to attend and more than a fair share of many of the cars have now been converted to other drive trains, sold or are no longer around.

I am just hoping for great weather and a lot of fun as finally I am not going to be coordinating a class or anything for that matter. For those that do and are doing well such as Steve Kessler with the Turbo classes and Ethan Mathis with GSR (JR great job in the past sir as I am sure many still look at you as a founding father) great work gentlemen and keep it up!

    gscalifornia Small blocks rule!!

Copy and paste from the latest post on Yellowbullet about this, guess they think a LOT of V8buick:

Ladies and Germs, there has been a few, and I do mean a select few, people that want to bust my balls by deliberately spreading BS about the allowance of other makes and models making TEST and TUNE hits. Yes they can TEST and TUNE and we welcome them with open arms and believe they will enjoy the event, comradery, the track prep and cool air. Some have even gone so far as to say they would rather see the event die than to allow any other make or model to TEST and TUNE. Put your big boy underwear on and get your facts straight. One of which being that this isn't new. I have been allowing others to TEST and TUNE for the eight years I have been the Race Director. You would think folks would get there facts straight before pissing and moaning.

I will make this clear once again for a few clowns on the V8Buick board. No one has said anything other than letting a limited number of folks come and TEST and TUNE. At no time was there any suggestion of having separate classes or anyone taking your precious parking spot so dig your panties out of you can and get your facts straight. This is not aimed at the folks that called me but more-so at the keyboard superheros that think they can bully me into doing what they want. Guess what, the MAJORITY of calls that I have had were from other Buick guys that wanted to make sure it was alright to bring some other car they had in ADDITION to their Buick. So, make sure when you read this that you do so twice so as to get it right this time. Just for shiggles, why don't you give Richard a call (His number is listed on the GSCA website.). Richard is the consummate gentleman where-as I am more direct. The funny thing about all of this is out of the hundreds of racers there is about half a dozen that were whining about something that they "heard" not "read".

So, to those interested, whether you own a Buick or not and would like to do some TEST and TUNE hits on a well prepped track and typically with some very good weather please don't let this taint your decision. Feel free to come on out. Thank you and we hope to see you there.

PS - Don't forget to mention how this post hurt your feelings as well because there are one hell of allot more that appreciate what I do than you few. I bust my ass to make sure the track conditions are optimal. Thanks.

    GSCA Race Director
    Jim
