i recently bought a 73 455. the head #'s are 12418600 does anyone out there no if these are just stock heads or possibly stage 1. also i know that this motor has extra water outlets to help cool the motor better but i was wondering if 71 heads and intake would work as that i have a brand new set of 71 stage 1 heads. when i originally rebuit the 71 i had bought heads from a salvge yard and the sold me 72 heads i had them rebuilt and installed them on my new motor and fired it up. for some reason i checked the oil and found water in the oil . later found out the reason was the extra water jacket didn't meet the the 71 block and the water poured down the valley into the oil pan.any help would be great. thanks ron:confused:

    Hello
I think you can use the 73 + head gaskets, and have no problem.
If not, I have a pair of 73 + stage one heads for sale, virgin heads Never cut or worked on, they have been cleaned and magnafluxed, no springs or valves.
