We had an opportunity to do a header test at the Midwest Challenge in Morocco this past week.Saturday was a test /tune all day so enough time was availablke to make several runs with one set and then change headers and do some more runs on the same day under the same conditions. My son Dougs car was the "mule".It is a 69 GS racecar "Painekiller" with a fairly mild motor,10.5 to 1,stage one heads, coolrunner, holly,Earick converter, etc.Car runs consistent 10.9's-11.0's depending on weather/track. The headers are the 1 7/8" KB or Poston style, after 3 runs we changed to the new Earick 2" headers. The change only took 1 hour,as they fit superbly, installed from underneath and had to jack the motor slightly. Doug made several more passes and we realized about .05-.1 sec reduction in et and almost 1 mph on each pass. The motor sounded deeper and reved without effort. As I said they fit very well and have an extra thick flange for great sealing. Would they be worth swapping from a set you already have?I don't know if the cost warrants that tenth, but if you need that last tenth or are buying new headers anyway,l would definately recommend these new headers for street or strip. We still have them on his car and will do testing for the remainder of the year with jetting changes. Will keep everyone posted. gary

Brian Earick. Nice guy. seems pretty sharp . I've had many very interesting conversations with him. Jim Burek P.A.E. ENTERPRISES
After Gary put this up I decided to try a set myself. I contacted Brian only 2 weeks before Cecil race to purchase a set but he had none in stock. Brian got them made and delivered them to me to do the header swap at Cecil and even helped with the install on a hot race car. The headers were true to form and gave a good tenth and 1mph over the old 1 7/8" headers that were on the car. Made a best ever of 10.05 @ 130.25mph. I also made backup runs of 10.05, 10.06 and 10.09 to prove it was no fluke. This is over 2 days of racing with different weather conditions. Never made any other changes to the car, a jet change may have made more difference but was running very well the way it was.
One of the brains of the Buick world. He's helping out with my project and has done work for many other people. I know two of them post on this website, greatscat and OUTRAGEOUS.
Steve, Brian has helped me with suspension tuning & dialed me in with a torque converter. His converter picked me up 2 tenths with no other change. This winter i'll have Brian go thru the OUTRAGEOUS engine... 2 years of street duty & dragstrip & 2 years of racing in the '68. Almost 200 passes & 2500 street miles. Not bad for a low buck 10.60 stump puller! :beer Randy
Just curious- How much for the headers? Also, how are the converters holding up? I've heard Brian can do amazing things with cylinder heads too.
headers Steve, for the 2'' stage 1 header they cost 325.00. I was told that i wouldn't have to buy another converter for my 68. Definitely a strong piece, better than the TCI or the ATI i had. Plus, it was dialed to my combination, whereas with ATI, they couldn't get it right after 2 attempts. :af: Randy
headers hey, if any of you guys want to sell your old headers, let me know, i'm in the market for some. email me at northcorner@ev1.net thanks dave
