Call Dave at TA, Mike Tz said a couple weeks ago that Dave was told by a couple different customers that they were able to make the headers fit with a little bit of frame notching.

If you try it, let us know how it works out as I am contemplating the same thing....maybe pictures too?

THANKS I WILL CALL DAVE AGAIN AS IT HAS BEEN ABOUT A MONTH SINCE MY LAST CALL ABOUT THIS SWAP. WANTED TO TRY THE NEWER HEADERS BUT DONT WANT TO BE THROWING MONEY AWAY FOR SOMETHING THAT I WAS TOLD WOULD NOT WORK. HOPEFULLY I WILL FINALLY BE ABLE TO USE MY HEADS THAT HAVE BEEN SITTING FOR 2 YEARS.

I have a 65 that is getting a stage 2 motor, headers in this car for a Stg.2 is a real pain! My friend has the TA 2inch stg. 2's for the 68-72, TA says they will not fit at all, that's 1/2 true, the passenger side bolted right up, if they were bigger diameter they would have hit in many places. Like I said, it bolted up, but the #2 tube has a drop that barely clears the aft face of the crossmember, the # 8 tube is very close to the firewall, the other 2 seemed to be OK from what I remember. Now the drivers side is really bad!!!Header will never fit, #1 tube hits crossmember preventing it from lining up with the port, by like 2 inches! #3 tube would have to some how go over the frame rail for any chance of working, #5 was hitting on aft rear portion of lower control arm, #7, I can't remember, but I'm sure the fit sucked!!There's a guy named Steve Berry in PA that put a Stg. 3 or 4 in a 67 and has a slide show at "buicks.net" web site. He used the TA 2 1/4 slip fit race headers, but had to move the engine up around a 1/4 inch, and back another inch. Now I should mention that my 65 has the Poston frame mounts. I'm looking at having custom headers made, I can't see moving the motor up more, and definately not back more. I'm not sure how radical your Stg. 2 will be, but I need 2 1/4 inch primary tubes, my motor is a nitrous 470ci, that should crank out around 1000hp on the bottle. Good luck, any other questions, E mail me and maybe I can help. Gary G in San Diego

Well Dave, I hope you are reading this.

It sounds like it definitely isn't a slam-dunk. Thanks for helping us all out on this issue, eventually there will be some headers done hopefully. If someone gets them done, maybe they can make a deal with TA or Poston to copy them....

I have had a set of STG 2 21/4 headers that I have been working on know for almost a year. Let me tell you these things are not looking very nice. But when I'm all done I will have a buddy weld me a set that match them from new materal. I have been cutting and spot welding themn in place and have to tell you this is a time consuming task. Hope to get a some more time this summer and get them done. To bad thre TA STG1 heads didnt come out sooner then I wouldnt be into all of this time and money. BUt then again the STG2 heads will make so much more power. Badbuick what is all in your NOS motor as those are numbers I plan to be looking at for my NOS motor?

TA Shorty headers are on the small side i think they are 1 7/8 by looking at pics the right side might work with no mods. Having been desigened for "B" body cars they will run into the frame on the drivers side, cause of clearance for a rear mounted steering box? i ran into this problem putting the 500 cad motor in my car. the left side manifold dumped right into the frame. I had to cut and modify it to get it to work, i assume the same would be needed for thr shorty headers. kind of spendy for something that you would have to cut up to make work and still have a pretty small primary tube.
