What do I have to do to get headers to fit a 455 74 apollo?

  2. i think ur s.o.l dude. i have a 75 skylark w/ 455 and all i have found out is that its going to be a custom job. $$$$$$ i know i have like 1/2" clearance by the upper control arm. its tight alright!:beer

I have Kenne-Bell headers on my 76, but the fenderwells have been removed. HTH

You could have them Gessler boys hog out a set of manifolds and achieve nearly the same performance.

You can swap the subframe for a later model with the gearbox mounted in front of the crossmember and then a regular A body header works ok. But if you do this you will have to fab brackets for the bumpers. I helped a friend with this once before (he used a 1976 nova) and I think that was about all he did to make it work besides fabbing the motor mounts but you would have to do that anyway. Just do not forget the longer steering shaft from the donor car.

Great idea . I have a friend thats doing just that and he just cut off his old bumper brackets and we tack welded them in place aftert mounting the fenders on to position it ! Worked great . You could go with a tubular subframe :dollar: :dollar:

have 455 in my 73, the headers wont go due to gearbox below, convert to 75-76 skylark front unibody is possible, but I used stock Electra cast irons and dual 2.5 all the way back. custom fit over gear box is your problem. 1500 at headers by ed, in minneapolis. No headers on market will fit Apollo and fit stock in car. except 75 . when gear box went forward of A frame. Here are pics of my 455 incar 73 hatch sunroof car. see pics at 350 upgrade apollo
