    Hello!

Just removed the A/C from my 71 skylark. Now I would like a Non a/c heaterbox to make it look good. Problem is that I don't want to spend 150 dollars so i started to look at ebay and found one.
It's way less expensive but will it fit? it says "small block heaterbox" but what difference does it make if it's a small block or not? should be the same, right?
Sorry, but I can't post a link to it cuz This is my first post and to post links you have to have posted more than 10. but the item number is 380111378963 and the headline is 68 69 70 71 72 CHEVELLE SMALL BLOCK HEATER BOX COVER SB

    Thanks, Patrik

    Patrik, welcome to the site.

That one is for a Chevelle, and not for your Skylark. You can get an A/C delete box and still use your fan and heater. Or you could cut your A/C box down and put fiberglass on it.

Search this site for A/C delete box and you will find some information.

There is no difference between the small or big block heater box on all the A-body cars(Skylark, GTO/Lemans, Chevelle, Cutlass). They're all the same. The early Camaro and 2nd Gen Nova even used the same box as the A-body but with a different heater core in the big block cars so the nipples exited out the center. The trouble you will have is that it won't cover the holes in the firewall left behind from your A/C box. You will also need the inside heater box and controls if you are planning to convert to non-A/C. I can't honestly say I would be thinking about doing that to the car. Factory A/C is a desireable option even if it doesn't work. Of course, I'm in Florida. You run the risk of melting like the wicked witch of the west in the Wizard of OZ without A/C down here in the summer.

Good point Bill. I know the firewalls are different on the Skylarks that are A/C or Non A/C from the factory.

A/C delete box is the way to go.

Thank you all for the welcomening.

I toughed it was the same heaterbox to all the gm A-bodys, someone told me that way back.... good thing I asked here before i bought it =)
I was thinking about fiberglasing it, but unfortunately my old one was a little to old and fragile so it broak. I was thinking of maybe making one out of metal but it might be hard to make the part around the fan.
Ok, so if I understands this right I need a A/C delete box. ant with that installed I'm gonna be able to use the heater and fan just as usual whiteout any other changes?
Even though it's a nice option with A/C I don't really want it. It's extra weight, in the way when you need to remove the heads/exaustmanifolds and it didn't work anyway. and also now after removing it all I get better flow to the radiator when the "ac-radiator" is not in the way of the airflow.
Don't get me wrong though I'm gonna save all the parts and I'm not gonna change the controls on the dasch or anything so I can put everything back on one day if i want. I just don't feel the need of a A/C here in sweden (pretty much always cold). "So hot you almoast melts" sounds pretty good to me right now, last day we had -10F here... if we get hot summer weather I just put down the top and enjoy it :bglasses:

Thanks Christian for linking me to the parts. not looking for that much but but a few things would be nice to get a hold of. Also nice to see that there are other sweeds in here:beer
