Heater Core Replacement: What am I missing?

I went to replace the heater core today on my AC equipped 67 GS. I folllowed the manual, the only thing that I did not do was to unhook the air control cable, I figured I'd drop the heater assembly down a bit once I pulled it loose from the front of dash and gain a bit of hand clearance. But that's the problem, I cannot pull the heater assembly away from the firewall. I realize that I'm dealing with forty-five year old sealer between the heater assembly and firewall, but I do not want to assume that and land up breaking something because of a fastener that the manual does not mention. I pulled the five nuts on the engine side of the dash, the distibution duct, yada, yada, but the heater assembly does not move when I pull on it. So what am I missing?

    Thanks.

There's gotta be more than 5 nuts. I recall something like 8 on my '68 with only a heater (no, it's not the same year as yours) and I can't believe that an AC evaporator, POA valve, etc. and heater core would be supported at the firewall with less fasteners. Don't know where they live, sorry to say.

The design of the 67 HVAC system has the evaporator behind the fenderwell and five nuts hold the heater assembly to the firewall. There are four screws in the engine compartment that secure the plenum assembly to the firewall, but they do not tie into the heater assembly.

    Thanks.
