I am looking for either the part number or the place where to get the "Points" Distributor conversion kit to make an HEI out of the points distributor. I have a stinger set up but I dont want to part that out to use it. Stinger had to use something so I wonder what and where they got it??? Can someone help?
Try Dave's small body HEI at: http://www.davessmallbodyheis.com/ He's always great with tech advice! - Bill
I know all that, but I wanted to build my own distributor. I was just after the kit. Someone knows what part is being used that I could buy locally.
Cane cams, Mallory and Pertronix makes them. I had heard the Crane Cams was the best. o No: I had a couple of Pertronix units had no trouble with them, but I also heard they are troublesome. Jegs has them listed in their cat. or online. Oh ya, the Crane has an adj. rev limiter, like $65. Jeff
Mike - I was thinking you could ask Dave for the info. Maybe he could tell you the best one to use or maybe he would sell you one of his set ups as a kit???? - Bill
Mike, "Stinger" is no longer around. The son of the founding company has a New company "Midway Ind.". They're in Arizona. The last time I tracked him down he was very helpful about my ignition problem {stinger} and sent me a new coil for free!! I don't remember his name but his number was 714-373-6155. This was about 4 years ago I hope he is still around. A class act in my book, 2 weeks after I talked to him about the coil, he called me out of the blue to ask about how it worked out. He will work with you, and is very informed. Good Luck :TU:
I was using Pertronix and was happy with it, I also talked to Dave that makes the HEI conversion at that time. When I put the 455 in my Skylark I used Daves set up, it was well recommended and it works great for me. If I was to start over I would use Daves set up again. Dean
Mike, I have the Crane XRI kit in mine from when I sent it to John Osborne. He highly reccommended it. It seems to be working well in the 70 motor from you. I believe it sells for around $70, and looked simple enough to install. Not difficult to connect and use. And as an added bonus, it has a built in rev limiter. Mike
Mike, would the parts list that dave used to make my Mag trigger dist help? I think I have it sitting around somewhere.
