Hey, oink, oink Alan! I still have you by 450 lbs tho. Jeez. I'd love to see what my drivetrain would do in a Nova or some other lightweight.

Impressive video Alan! What's under the hood? And what makes Buicks so dang heavy?

Well I'm glad you didn't snatch it up before I got there Mike! I didn't ask the guy where the car came from, he seemed pretty depressed about selling it. Oh now I am feeling guilt again. It just about broke my heart to see him standing there in the rain watching his baby drive away. :ball:

He said he owned it for 10 years and it had 57,000 on it when he bought it. It just turned over 62,000 on the way home. I think it spent a lot of time in garages, the original vinyl roof looks almost new.

Thanksl TXGS! It is nice to have a hobby both can share. Of course she might insist you take up needlepoint or something in return. LOL!!

Thanks Connie - and that was in total street trim, as in drive to the track on hard compound radials ~120 miles and race without even a decent cool down period

Its got a nicely warmed over 455" in it with some decent heads. Its built for cruisin with 3.08 gears but it gets up and goes pretty well

Mine is heavy because its a convert. with power windows, power disc brakes and a few other chubby accesories not including me - Im under 200#

My skylark was 3700 with very little in the way of options.

I'd say! Hey that reminds me of a question I have... My new car has 3.42 gears (or something like that) and it doesn't have a tac, but Lee said 60 was top speed on the way home because the motor sounded like 2800 rpm. The speedometer reads 10 mph faster than actual. This is very similar to our Chevelle which has 4.10 gears. Can you explain that? Did Buick make a 12 bolt, or is it a chevy rearend in there?

There were rears that had 12 bolt covers but 10 bolt insides. Also, Canadian built cars (for US use) came with true 12 bolt rears.

A stock '69 rear is an 8.2 inch 10 bolt - probable gearing for a 350 skylark would be either 2.93 or 3.23 non posi. Do a search on this site for 12 bolt identification - it should link you to some other buick site which details how to identify what rear you have by cover design.

mph > rpm per whatever gear you have is also effected by what size diameter tire you are running.

given the same size tire, 3.42's sahould show quite a bit less rpm than 4.11's !!!!

Several times I drove my GS (Top down, of course with slicks in the back seat :bglasses: ) 900+ miles EACH WAY to bowling green and back for the GSCA Nats......with 3.42's

If I remember correctly, I was doing about 75 mph at just under 3,000 rpms.......for hours and hours and hours

OK, I'll do that (Lee probably already knows what it is, but sometimes I like to learn stuff for myself). As far as tire size, duh :Dou: how come I didn't think of that! They seem pretty tall, but maybe the 15" rims are fooling me. Now I gotta go measure the tires on both cars and compare.
