Good job gettig that thing shut off before the barbque started...

Sounds like either a stuck float/needle/seat or possibly a loose connection. Where exactly was the fuel spilling from? If it is the tube that is about the highest point on the carb, the needle/seat would be the first place I looked. Loose joints may be able to be tightened if you don't get crazy and for goodness sake, use the right wrenches! That means what I always called 'tubing wrenches'. Those are the ones with a bit of extra material that wraps around the fitting to get just a bit better and more solid grip. Keeps from rounding off those fittings. Do yourself a huge favor. Go to someplace like Sears and get the best quality wrenches they have. Those cheap POS tools at most parts stores simply will not do the work. The type of wrenches I am talking about, if purchased from most parts stores in either the store brand or some no name brand will simply spread apart at the jaws and round off the fitting anyway.

    Don't ask how I know, I just know.:af:

Hey, and welcome to the board, btw! Congrats on your purchase too! When you get the time, post a few pictures of your car for us. Oh, and use a first name in your reponses, if you don't mind. This is a pretty friendly place.

I hope you fix your leak so you can enjoy driving that machine. Glad it didn't become something worse. Do you keep an extinguisher in the car? (Ok, I know you just picked it up) If not, I suggest you get one. Good Safety measure.
