I was reading an article or two about the Hemi Killer cam for the 455. I haven't heard anything bad about them so far. My goal for my project is somewhere in the 10's. Is this a good cam for this goal or is there a better cam out there?

    Thanks

Read the cam shoot out on the dyno on Jim Weise's Tri Shield site.

Can you post a link to Jim's web site or the article mentioned. I can't seem to find it. I'm running the Hemi-killer now and very happy with it. I somewhat stepped down from the Kenne Bell "window rattler" cam so I could be more street-able.

I have the hemi-killer in my car and like it OK. However, unless you have a 2000 pound car or plan on some nitrous the hemi-killer won't make 10's. You will need more engine for that ET or more lift to match a good set of heads that you should have. I could be making MORE power with LESS cam if I had better heads.

Buy the best heads you can get, and then look at cam designs once you have the flow numbers from the heads in your hand. If you are saving your money now, buy heads and put them on a stock shortblock and you'll beat all you friends while using a stock cam and iron manifold on your good heads. You can build another engine around the heads as you earn more money later. and laugh at all the guys with big cams, intakes and headers that can't beat you in the meantime.

Look at Gessler's car as an example of what can be done with stock parts and good flowing heads/intake.

Steve, if you guys are stuffing a 455 in a Skyhawk you may have a good shot. Being so light, you won't have to make as much power. Hell, i ran 10.80 (2800 elevation) with my street engine in my 3100lb. '68. the engine is a 11.00 comp. kenne bell maxi 3 , heads that flow 250int. 187 ex. STOCK 850 holley & a cool runner intake. A good converter & traction will help. Randy

In the article about 500 horsepower for 4000 dollars, the 4000 pound GS ran a mid 11. I plan to put this in a very light Regal around 3200-3500 pounds plus use some different hardware. Now the saying in drag racing is every 100 pounds is worth a tenth so I figure I can at least hit 10.99 somehow with help from this site, my Dad and the experts like Jim Weise and Tomazewski.

If it were me, I would get a different cam- one where there is more exhaust duration than intake by about 10 degrees. This is especially important if you're using iron heads- not such a big deal if you have a good flowing set of aluminum heads.

My 3700 pound (race weight) Skylark with 592 dyno horsepower ran 11.16 on pump gas this weekend. Second time out and I still can't get the linkage to open the carb all the way. 10.3 to 1 compression and 3.42 gears on 28 X 10 slicks.

I didn't think Kenne Bell still did Buick stuff. Same with Art Carr.

I saw a thread here I believe that Art Carr himself is no longer affiliated with Art Carr Inc.

Sign of the times, dude. Colonel Sanders was bought out of KFC by some company, then when he tried to open another restaurant that had his name and image in the title and logo, (the new) KFC sued him and won.

Colonel Sanders got screwed! Anyways, I was looking in the Poston catalogue today and I found this other cam. It's good for 70 horsepower and is relatively cheap. I think that I can make 10.99 somehow, so it can be in Bracket 1. It's been important to me to have a car at the Nats one year in a class and be able to drive it back to the hotel and take it to restaraunts and stuff like that. Thats a car I could be proud of.
