This letter below is reprinted from Hemming’s Muscle Machines, issue #44 May 2007, pg. 38. Nice to know the Buick GS Stage 1 shined across “the pond” in its day.

    Title: LS6 remembered
I am vacationing here from Hampshire, England and found a copy of your great magazine in a local bookstore. It was the HMM#38, November 2006 issue that was misplaced in the woman’s magazine section, so the kind store owner gave it to me. It is one fine magazine for the muscle car enthusiast! I very much enjoyed the contents and noticed on page 94 of that issue you ran a short story and photo of Dennis Cumby’s all black 1970 Chevelle LS6. I had the red equivalent of this car imported to London in March 1970.
It was quite a machine in its time and the only time it was clearly outrun was by one of those pesky 1970 GS Stage 1 Buicks. We used to drag race with a flag start at a back stretch of Heathrow in the early 1970s. It was not with permission, but we just ignored. A London taxi took out my pride and joy LS6 in July 1973. I really like how you cover original owner muscle cars. I wish you continued success.

I forgot to comment on why the man from Hampshire, England, was looking in the women's magazine section in the first place ... but I'll save that for another thread somewhere else ...

He is a Chevelle guy, this may explain it.
