The rumors I had heard about there being another nearby yard with older cars inside turned out to be true. :TU: This place does not seem to be in any hurry to crush the old stuff to make room for late model imports. :Brow: The buddy of mine that brought me there pointed out a 60's Caddy that he got the grille out of last November. I shall return and often! Below is the Buick (and one Oldsmobile) menu of what they have in there.
Like the camo paint job on the '68 WC all door. Hope the trip was worthwhile - thnx for sharing ! :TU:
Hey Robert, Can you check the heat riser stove on that Skylark for me? I think I need the stove. I have the tube (as long as it is the right length tube)
There is no official price list posted, we just brought our bits to the cashier's window. Their prices seemed all over the map to me. I got the console & shifter from that olds for only $25 & tax but my buddy just had 4 of the little vacuum actuators for inside the AC box in his 69 Caddy. His total was same as mine. uzzled: It's a 350/2V motor; do you still want it? I need to get back there for the mounting brackets off the olds floor board anyway. :TU:
That 77/78 Electra/Limited/LeSabre looks a little beat up. The front bumper looks "rust free" however. Heads up C-body guys! ElectraJim
Well, I think the heat stove I have might be for a 70 or up. It's wide in diameter, way wider than the actual tube is. Did they make different stoves from 69 and up? o No: I need to check really close, maybe the stove is right. Is it a tight fit normally?
When you go back check on the $$$ for the grille on the '68 "Cat". Fairly easy part to remove. Actually, can be separated in the middle for 2 pieces.
Hey Robert, Thanks for emaiing me. Sorry, by the time I got it it was like 3 hours after you sent it. Then I went to bed because I felt like crap. Anyway, my stove pipe I have is the correct one for my car. The question was, is the stove itself different from year to year? I have a stove but am not sure if it is correct or not. One end of my pipe fits in the stove and the other doesn't, it's too wide by a hair. I assume this is correct and the end that does not fit into the stove is the end that goes into the air cleaner boot.
The spirit of place must be a Buick lover because I felt an overwhelming urge to get back in there yesterday. Just as I walked in the forklift brought me out a present, and it wasn't even my... :birthday:
WOW! How cool would it be to hot rod that sucker, with a rear facing third seat no less!! I have a 455 motor I will sell you if you do.
If it was (or even if had ever been) a factory equipped 455'er then I would have taken it home whole, rusty floors & all. I have only seen a few of the 73-74 hard top hatch back Buick wagons EVER so a 455 powered one must be super rare. I will be content just to pillage some of the choicer morsels. It has a nice list of popular options (besides the front buckets & console) like pwr windows, pwr driver seat, pwr remote hatch release, sport mirrors w/ driver side remote, AM/FM/8 Track & multiplex, tilt, cruise, speed warning, air conditioning, pwr disc brakes & rally wheels.
I don't even think that particular model wagon had a 455 offered. I think it was 350 only. The Estate wagons were the ones with the 455's.
This one is a Century Luxus wagon - a 1973 edition - I believe. 455's were optional in the Luxus 2-door hardtops (a guy up the road from me is selling one) and the Gran Sport editions. Why wouldn't they be offered optionally for all of the B-series varieties? o No:
I'm not sure. I did not know they were options on the Century wagons in 73, but of course, why wouldn't they be because all the Century Gran Sports had it as an option too.
I see that Robert hasn't posted or been online since the end of June. Does anyone here know him??? Is he OK??? It seems as if he's dropped off the face of the earth. I'm asking because I sent him some $$$$ for some parts. I have tried e-mailing with no responses. I just hope that everything is OK with him. He & his health are MUCH more important than car parts, but it would be nice to know, someday, what's going on. Tom T.
