Ive been told you want to stay with all the same brand but I can get 2 gallons of Transtar 2K Epoxy Primer/Sealer for free. What can I use for a high build primer over that? I dont see a high build made by them.

Transtar epoxy would go on after all the body work is done before you start to lay on the color,,,and you can use any urethane primer you like under your epoxy ,where did you get it so cheap,,,I used it for years at a production shop and don't put it on to heavy ,follow their instructions,if you pile it on it will bite you in the butt...Just trying to help

Most epoxy primers are great undercoats for bare metal, topcoat with any hi build 2 part sandable primer, and the the epoxy can also be used as a sealer before paint if desired.

    meteo7880 Getting expensive...

What we do is lay down the epoxy on bare metal, then do mud work, then prime over that. Keeps the mud completely sealed from moisture on both sides. Just my .02

Your best bet for adhesion and protection for both your filler and your prepared bare steel is a light coat of acid etch especially for the weekend warrior that lets it sit for extended periods of time ,filler over transtar would trap some solvents and stand a better than average chance of having the filler let go,but if you use a real light coat it is possible to get away with it just not recommended. Hope this helps
