    Hi all,

I wouldn't call it hoarding, everyone else might, and some do.

I am the come prepared mind set , as as long as I have space it doesn't hurt me laying around.

I usually keep too much of cars and trucks I've parted out over the years and that's the majority of the hoard.

    Regards,
    Jim

  2. Do you have any 70 front fenders you want to part with? They would go on a real X.

Am teetering on doing a giant scrap out. Steel wheels, odd ball sheet metal, large car parts. If anyone wants the '50 Buick clip, or the '66 wildcat metal, will give anyone interested a heck of a deal if they arrange pickup. Cannot do all the legwork, spoon feeding, or hand holding on shipping anymore. One can't move or ship this bulky stuff anymore. It went from bad to terrible in terms of logistics.

I've always saved every piece of hardware possible. In the Air Force we called it "scrounge". Bins of nuts, bolts, washers, etc. Even if repurposed it's saved many, many trips to a hardware or parts store when needed in the middle of building something car related or not.

I identify as someone who hides parts from themselves so well that they can't even recall the initial purchase or why they bought it. Is there a name for this?

I don’t hoard parts either, I just have a few extra items here and there that I might need later.

It's hoarding when you buy 3 consoles in the wrong colour for your car that already has a perfect one in it. "You never know when you might another need one" or "I might do a colour change on the interior one day" and then that day never comes... Yeah, been there, done that. Had some pretty rare full size Buick stuff, had some rare late 40's Buick stuff, got it all cheap, thought it was worth a fortune, and all I ended up doing was cleaning up a few Buick collector's yards and paying for the privilege.
So since I wrote my last comment, I've acquired 2 engines and 3 cylinder heads, 3 cams, 6 carbs and 2 transmissions and a rear axle gear set for my Mercedes. It's obviously rare because there are none of these cars left in captivity anymore, they all rotted away in the 80s. But, like some of the Buick parts I had, they're "rare but nobody cares"... sigh...it's a sickness...

In early 80's when 68-72 cars were plentiful in salvage yards that was a good cause to hoard lol. While based in Atlus OK used to frequent Roosevelt OK - it was a salvage yard dream world until the days of scrapping made for more $$ over parting out. I feel like I need to go to confession for this, but walked by a pristine N-25 bumper sitting on a rack and kept walking (I already had one on my GS so wasn't needed). Parts hoarder? ME? I mean, doesn't EVERYBODY have 4 SPARE Buick BRF code 2004R transmissions, plus at least two SPARE 1971 green dash covers?

I can not even begin to tell you what a nightmare it is to have to do that. This doesn't even show half of the "Treasures" saved by a family member who's house we have inherited a portion of.

That's a whole lotta schtuff. You need to separate it all - lay it out on the lawn or driveway and have a yard sale - accepting any offer including "free to good home" or any home for that matter. You have to keep in mind that it wasn't yours and still doesn't have to be, either.

Guilty, as charged. I don't think any of us want to leave it to our family because we know they have no idea what it is or if it has value. NOS what does that mean? Its dirty greasy and rusty just toss it. One year only part nobody wants that...

Both my trunk, and my parts cabinet are full. Dire warnings from my wife if I start to trickle out of there.
