Holley or Q Jet??

    Hello everyone,

I am currently running a Holley 04779 750 CFM Double Pumper (mech secondaries). It works very well, with the only issue being poor cyl to cyl A/F ratios. Some cyls are rich and others somewhat lean. The intake is likely to be mostly to blame, I know. It's a T/A Dual Plane.

I am thinking of going back to Q Jet for more of a stock looking appearance.

Question - with the Q jet set up "right" should the performance be comparable to the Holley?

    Thanks!

sbbuick - It depends.....Are you looking for lowest quarter mile et's or best drivability? Bottom line: For racing the Holley, on the street, the Q jet. Do a search on quadrajet, Q Jet and you will find many discussions for the pro's and con's of each. At least you have enough CFM for the 350 to breath! :TU:
    My opinion!

    Rignt!

Well, I'd rather not lose any accelleration. I like the car to be as fast as possible. Got to uphold the Buick tradition, no?

Only thing is - it'd be even sweeter to smoke the competition and then lift the hood - and see a lowly Q Jet sitting there :)

There's nothing lowly about the Q Jet! There are many fast GS's and others running the rochester. Its probably the best street carb you'll find. Good idle, MPG. and power. You won't lose accelleration on the street because you won't stay at WOT very long like you do on the strip (and keep your license for very long... ) Check out the other threads!

I'm doing that right now.. that reminds me..... I gotta talk to that guy in western
    IL about an intake manifold.

even found a 70 buick 4bbl to bolt on top of mine. all the motion is now smooth as a babys rear. just waiting on the new rods to drop into her.

oh yea... is the secondary vacuum break diaphram important mine holds vacuum but dosent draw in the rod.
