Hood tach vent line install instructions, pictures, or ideas on making your own kit?

My new tach from Year One has serious condensation problems. (for the record...my old one from Poston or OPG NEVER had any condensation problems without any vent?)

Looking for a copy of instructions to install the tach vent line. (maybe the ones that come with the parts place kit?)

If no instructions, maybe someone can post some good pics of the vent line location in the tach when installed in the hood, the routing, and the filter and attachment locations?

I really want to try and make my own vent line kit rather than paying the $39.00 asking price. Really seems high for what you get in the kit. Retainers, line, fittings are not a problem....but what about the filter? Ideas on another vent line filter that will work? Ideas on the best way to get the required parts?

The 71-72 tachs that use the vent tubes had a protrusion molded into them on the bottom plate. There was a tab you broke off to expose the opening, and then you could slide the hose on. The 70 style tachs do not have this protrusion so you would have to drill a hole and then find some way to attach a hose.

You will probably have to take it all apart to figure out where to drill a hole if you go that way. If there is room.

As far as instructions, if someone has a late 71 assembly manual it is page 12-13.2

I have no way to scan the page and post it here.

was going to scan and post from my '72 assembly manual from Millennium Industries just to find I have missing (12-17.1 through 12-20.1) pages. Page 12-20.1 from a '72 manual has the hood Tach installation.

Thanks for the input guys. Anyone else that could provide instructions and/or pics?

I took off the year one tach today and discovered there is no provision for a vent line. I think I will have to disassemble to see where it is safe to drill.

Now....to really vent, no pun intended. Not thrilled with Year One lately. I always went to them when I needed top quality parts....and was therefore willing to pay their higher prices. I received a rear wing from them that had 2 nickel size holes that I had to repair and now have a hood tach that has no provision for a vent line and major issues with condensation. Not thrilled at this point....Both were definately more money than competitors products.

I'm not sure if this helps at all but I remembered these guys putting a hood tach on their GN. It's toward the end of the video but I would expect this would cost maybe $10 at most for all the pieces.

Ok, I realize I still need one more thing....a good close up pic of the underside of a hood tach so I can see approximately where the vent line should go. I know I saw a post awhile back with one....but just spent 1 hour looking for it with no luck.

If anyone knows that post please post a link of post a good close up pic. thanks for any help!
