What's the widest tire I could fit on my 1970 lark? I don't want to run wheels larger in diameter than 15", does anyone have a recommendation for cheap wheels to slap some large tires on? This isn't for looks at all, so I don't care what they look like. Or maybe someone could just fill in the blanks with some possibilities

    Tires of size:

    2 _ _ / _ _ / 15

    and wheels of size:

    15 / _ _ / _ _ "

I see that BFGoodrich makes a Radial T/A in 295/50/15 size. Could these fit with the right wheels and no body modification?

I should mention that I'd like my wheels to be flush with the outside of the wheel well, I can't stand the look of wheels buried within the body, I like them right on the outside, but not sticking out.

The absolute largest tires that you can fit under there are 325/50R15's on a 15x10 wheel with 5-5/8" backspacing. That's what I run on my car. You will need to trim the top of the fenderwell back a bit to avoid any rubbing issues and also air bags to keep the back of the car from bouncing too much or it'll rub up inside as the inner fender is curved.

Here's are the pics of my car: http://v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=15046&page=2

With stock rims 275 60R x 15 ties for the back and 245 R60 x 15 for the fronts. Some have a fresh suspension and can run 255 R60 x 15 on the front.

But what are you going to do if you have a flat tire?

I've narrowed it down to 2 options, which would you get?

    $134
    Front - Cragar Nomad II 15x7 5x4-3/4 3.75" backspace
    Rear - Cragar Nomad II 15x8 5x4-3/4 4.5 or 5.25" backspace

    OR

    $220
    Front - Aero 50 15x7 5x4-3/4 2, 3, or 4" backspace
    Rear - Aero 50 15x10 5x4-3/4 5" backspace

    I have 245/60/15 15x 8 fronts 4.5 backspace and 295/50/15 rear with 15 x 8 4.5 bs. Fits good and looks mean.

If you use a dfferent size tires front and back you have an issue. If you have a flat tire and you cannot put the rear size and the front. It is too big. If you carry the front size tire as a spare it will killl your posi if you use it on a rear flat. Keep the roll back driver's number handy.

Just fitted 15x10 with 5" spacing on 71 Riv.
275 Kelly chargers on they just fit inside guard.
Will fit bigger tyres soon, can get a BF 295 in.
The chargers have a big sidewall bulge so a bigger square cut should fit.

If you want cheap wheels with a good look go with plain steel wheels and dog dish hubcaps. You can get them in any size.

Where can I get those from? If I can get 15x10's with something over a 5.5" backspacing that would be ideal.

How well does 295 fit on the 15x8 wheel? Is it stretched at all? I'd love to see pictures!

I followed Phillip's link to another thread. He had mentioned using Stockton to get his 15 X 10's. I searched their catalog and found no Buick references. Did you ship them your mags for modification or did you special order them from Stockton?

    Just curious.

im running stock ralleys front and rear. the fronts are 15x7 245/60r15 (the 255/60's rub the sway bar when turning so backed it down) the rears are 15x8 with 275/60r15 and it is pretty decent.

when i get around to it im gonna go with weld wheels and the 325/50's like phillip cause seeing the rear of his car pleases me in ways a car shouldnt...:bla:
