Hello, I'm finishing up the body on my 70 Skylark Custom, 350. The engine is in good shape, but it's stock. Where can I buy a kit with the custom chrome parts, ie braided hoses and lines. Does someone make a kit for my car? I'm not sure of all the parts I need, but would like to make the engine look great, you know what I mean, muscle it up. Any info on where to go, what to buy? Would be great . I just want to make it look great , Shine, Run great. Thanks Evan McCarthy evanm@comcast.net
On ebay, in "Buick parts", you can find stainless bolt kits for the engine, but I don't know if you'll find a pre-assembled kit like you're describing for the Buick, due to its relatively low popularity in terms of the whole market. You might at least check with Summit, TA, and Russell, or one of the manufacturers of the items you want. Believe it or now, JC Whitney occasionally has stuff for our "out of the mainstream" Buicks, too! Remember that for some chrome trim, like hood latches, radaitor covers, etc., parts for similar year Chevy models may fit.
Re: Shiny engine Have anew set of 350 Chrome valve covers, will let go for $50 +shipping. Will polish them up real nice for you.
Hi Evan Sounds like youhave a Very nice ride !! :TU: You say you're finishing up on the body.....is the engine in the car ?? When you say "Muscle it Up " are you also referring to performance upgrades ?? The 350 is a great engine and can easily be woken up from its stock performance to run even better by adding a cam, headers and dual exhaust, as well as having your Q-Jet rebuilt / tuned to run at peak performance. As for cosmetic upgrades.....several places offer chrome Altenators, Braded hose "Cover up" kits, and such. Another possibility is to have some of your parts powder coated a shiney color....things like the alt and power steering brackets, the pulleys, etc.... Good luck
