Here is a shorter clip from one of the vids: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZ1fZZHH2LI

You'll notice the odd puff of smoke from oil vaporizing on the left header, that was due to not having enough crankcase ventilation and only one cheap restrictive breather cap on the left valve cover that was misting. It was addressed rightaway along with a deep sump oil pan for the second day on the dyno.

Pardon the poor editing, that was taken back in '05 with a Hi 8 tape vid cam.

I'll see if I can dig up some vid commentary as described earlier, its priceless. :Brow:

Anyway, take care and keep er WFO. :TU:

I have a 70 GSX 9.8/1 compression off the shelf TA AL heads ,413 advanced 4 degrees ,SP1 with 850 Holley DP good for 543HP runs 12.25's with a TH400SP and 3.42 rear Full weight with AC hooked up NO slicks.Getting boring looking for more cam in this one.

More cam? The 413 has a 234@050 intake lobe. Would a bigger cam than the 413 run power brakes?

This is my Buddy's Black '70. Sounds nasty with the 413 TA camshaft..

After driving it about 65 miles to the track, we leave the X pipe Header exhaust closed, the column shifter in D, and in cooler air under 68* has run 12.30's @ 109 with it's P/Windows, A/C off, Olds 8.5" rear with 3.23 gearset, and 28" tall MT DR's.
It has an AMP motor with 9.6-1 CR and Cast Iron, tho now Stg 1 heads, w/ SP1 & a Demon 850.

It shifts at 5700, tho it'll pull to 6100 easy if the shifter is pulled up thru the gears. (12.26) Bonzai pass. I'm trying to get him to go to a 3.55-3.70 gearset. But he's happy, and who can blame him?

No weight removed, Bench Seat GS (so about 3900-4000# with the Centerlines) but he recently needed to replace the clutch for the fan, but instead pulled off the Stock Clutch Fan and fabbed in a later model Taurus Electric Fan with Thermo switch. Looks and works real sweet.

Havent' been back out to the 1/4 mile as yet tho. :)

why is the TA413 considered a more radical cam than the TA113 cam? the TA113 has more duration but less lift and seems to be propelling cars to equal times as the TA413

The 413 is 234/244 @ .050 and .500/.500 lift with 1.55 rockers...the 113 is 228/247 @ .050 and .478/.475 with 1.55 rockers...how is the 113 a bigger cam? :puzzled: With 6 more degrees of intake duration I would bet that everything else being equal the 413 would be faster. The intake lobe duration/lift is the most important factor when trying to make more power with a cam.

my mistake, for some reason i was thinking the 113 had more intake duration. I have had both cams and the 113 felt every bit as fast as the 413 although it's not a fair comparison as the engines were not identical.

Just being nit picky here, anyone notice that the 2nd poll option is off...

11.70 to 12.89 seconds, instead of 11.70 to 11.89 seconds

I think it threw the poll results off a little.

So T/A is claimin someone else due? I here the cams are actually Crower cams not T/A! Is this true. I would have to say I would call Cam motion, LSM Engineering, and some other's before I would make a final decision. I would bet if you had all the rt info for any of the guys I posted, You would go faster then 10's if your car hooked. That's the secret making the car hook. Oh by the way, When I'm done with our car it won't have Slicks. There is no need for them any more if you do your home work:eek2:.
