How much damage from sitting for years

    Not sure I would pay $650 to "freshen" a tranny. For a little bit more and you can go get a fully rebuilt performance trans from a major rebuilder.

    Sorry if I miss led, $650 is to go throught the transmission and rebuild all of it. I am certain it would be more if it needs something like a modulator, but I doubt that it would require more.

    that price is cheap. i would have it rebuilt, stem to stern.
    i paid $180, in 2001, to have seals & gaskets replaced in my th350.

    the TH400 that came in my Willys sat for 10 years prior to my buying it. I pulled the pan off and the fluid was fresh, parts that I could see were spotless. The local tranny shop recommended replacing seals at a minimum, about $125-150.00.
