Im trying to figure out tha original color of my car, and for some reason, I want to say its in the VIN code, but I could be wrong.
Anybody have a link to the codes for the VIN numbers of the Riviera's to explain what each character meant. Im trying to figure out my original color.

Or, where can I find the paint code on the body and a chart to decifer it?

    Thanks.

The cowl tag will tell you the paint code. If you pop the hood, it's a tag on top of the firewall on the driver's side.

Post all the numbers here (line by line) and we'll help you out :TU:

What is up with the rivets?

Dan I am not an expert by any means but.... the pic of your cowl tag...

Do the rivets look a little odd??? Are they covered with bondo or epoxy?

Looks like the usual GM thing to me....every car I have seen has a "plug" of sealant pushed onto those rivets....if you pick at them they will pop off. sometimes they are bare because over time the sealant dries up and becomes hard and brittle so the little plugs fall off if bumped. Firewall sealant often went over the tag too....

I hijacked that pict, in fact, I don't even know why I saved it?

Ok, now I remember why I saved it. Look at the Fischer Body number.

Sorry it took so long for me to reply back to this, but I just ran out and checked. My paint code is XX.
    Thanks in advance. :beer

Thanks. My car is white right now, but its an obvious repaint. I just wanted to be sure what the original color was. :TU:

Look at the color of the roof line in the area between the trim and weatherstrip near the quarter windows. There's a narrow spot there that is impossible to paint unless you have it all apart. That area should have your original color on it. :bglasses:
