I installed a GM30 by Hughes last week in a 70 GS with a mildly built 455. This converter amazed me for the money. The engine doesn't scream just to ease out like other cheap converters. It stalls at the right RPM too. Nail the throttle at about 15 to 20 MPH and the car screams and breaks loose. It spins all the way into 3rd where it finally hooks on it's little street tires.
Anyway, after reading about people here using Hughes I tried one. It was much cheaper than my custom built one in my other GS. I can't feel a difference in the 2.
