Hey guys, I am the oldest son of Dan Hopkins (If anyone knows him), John. We recently finished my '71 GS. It is painted like the white and black gsx. We managed to get a '87 GN motor in it withought any modifications. It also has the GN tranny in it. Let me know what you think. She isn't quite done yet though.

Awesome wheels, a turbo v6 in a gs is sure to turn a few heads.

You might want to post your name or they might all start calling you "oldest son of Dan"
Nice combination. Keep us informed of the kills you make with your 6 banger. Love it when that boost builds up:TU:

We've seen many V8's in the Regals. I've been waiting a long time for someone to slap a Turbo 6 in a GS. It was only a matter of time!

Good luck on your project. Should turn out great.

just an observation, it looks like you have the vacuum line for the brake booster going to the intake. turbo cars don't make vacuum under boost. stock GNs use a different brake booster. you may need to switch to manual brakes or get a vacuum pump.

    Great setup

Turbo Trans Ams used a vacuum brake booster seeming without problems. Caspers Electronics sells a aluminum block for the top of the throttle body that includes an outlet like the Turbo TA.

Tapping into the PVC line also works OK. Good to have a vacuum reservoir in the event you want to power brake while building boost.

    hey missin' 2,

try talking to the guys over on www.turbobuick.com/forums or go to www.gnttype.org and follow some of the recipies for more power. Finally what are you doing for a fuel system? Thats the biggest hangup for some of us that are also doing this swap.

    Thanks,

Droooooooolllllll. I'm glad someone on this board has done what I'd like to eventually do myself. I wanted to do a turbo'd 350 very badly, but until it's shown to be capable of taking the power to run high tens, I plan to go with a 6 instead of 8. Besides, the 231 v-6 has a special place in my heart. My first car ever was a 1980 Buick LeSabre with the 2bbl 231. The turbo version would be somewhat nostalgic without the shortcomings. On top of that, the aftermarket availability is very good when compared to the 350.

What motor mounts were used and were they mounted in any special way?

john do as much porting of stock parts as possible throttle body inlet, innercooler neck near turbo, headers opening, adj f/press, hot wire your pump and get rid or that innlet to turbo hose and use pipe or hose with no inside ridges /smooth and GET A SCAN TOOL and use vp116 if you want to turn the boost way up, it is very forgiven. Good luck we were able to go a best of 11:99 ) 50 degree day on stock inj, turbo and inner cooler with a lot of tuning and did i mention( a lot of BOOST) i love the look and can't wait till you pull up to a ricer and they here that car SPOOL up bring a camera we would love to see the looks you get.
