Some time in the last week some peice of human waist stole the licence plates off my truck. Greg was going to drive it this week and drove it to the gas station on Fri eve to gas it up. As he came out from paying he noticed the front plate was missing so he checked the back and it was missing as well.

I thought I was going to get to sleep in on monday but now get to spend the morn talking to the cops and the police and the DMV.

were they personallized plates or something? i can't see stealing plates as a cool thing to do for any punk. unless someone just didn't want to pay for their own plates at the DMV :puzzled:

The stolen plates are used on stolen cars. Eric said it happened "some time in the last week". Thus, whoever stole them has had up to a week to get away with using them on a stolen car.

I was just thinking about something similar. I just had to put licensing tabs on my truck. In WA, they use a sticker that is attached to the plate. Every year you get a new one. They recommend not putting them over the old one, but most people do that anyhow.

One problem is people who steal the tabs to put on their cars that have expired tabs. It isn't quite as bad since the cost of tabs has been cut drastically, but it still happens.

One thing I heard about, and do, is to take a razor blade and cut my tabs up after sticking them to the plate. I make a bunch of criss-cross cuts all over it. That way if someone tries to peel it off, they'll just get a small piece.

they were breaking off the corner of the plates to get the sticker in missouri.... now we have to put the stickers in the very middle.

if they would take these people and execute them in front of a firing squad :blast: :ball: :beer :beer :) :pp :beer in public, i think you would see the crime drop substantialy.

yea they cut the corners off here in milwaukee to get the stickers.

just dont understand why and if the cop is smart they run the plate anyway and find out it hasn't been paid for.

You'd think it would be simpler and easier with no chance of getting caught messing with someone's car to simply make a sticker...but then, nobody said these folks were smart

72 pet chicken i dont wanna be a pirate!

just got a 90 dollar ticket cause my car was parked on the street without a back plate. 30 for no proof a regeistration (no sticker) and 60 for the missing plate! no sh*t im not gonna have a sticker on there if theres no plate! just another way to get screwed over.

its only a fix it ticket but its still a pain in the butt to track down the fuzz to sign off.

They were just regular standard plates. The truck is now parked in the driveway again. Fourtunataly we have other vehicles to drive so its not much of an inconvenence as far as transportation is concerned. Just now I have to jump through the legal hoop to get anything done. I will probably have to re-register the truck, at least I won't have to pay property tax on it again.

you are assuming logic applies here. there is still theft in the middle east, and you know what they do with thieves there, dont you?
