Have any of you with damaged grilles tried contacting the GSCA offices, or posted about this issue on their board? Last I looked, I didn't see any posts there. Would be interesting to hear if they have spares to swap for damaged ones. I thought all of the first run were sold out in advance though.
I tried to post on the GSCA Board and I could not get my user name/password recognized. They have some third party doing their support so I've got a trouble ticket in... ou: Seems I remember that the shipping included $1000 insurance and a "special" box. o No: - Bill EDIT - checked - yes - $1000 insurance and special box.
For those that have received their grills, what was the return address on the grill packaging? IE Who shipped it? I THINK Year One was supposed to ship out all of the grills. If so I would call them.
i got mine undamaged too, but now that im not switchin my 72 to a 70 gsx clone i dont need it :spank:
Nice to hear others have had problems with UPS. I no longer deal with them for the same reasons. I strictly use USPS Parcel Post and FedEx Ground for items heavier than 10 lbs because FedEx is usually cheaper then USPS. Also, FedEx purchased Kinko's about 2 years ago so they have a drop off site about 2 miles from my office. Never had a claim or damaged parts by FedEx or USPS. Flynbuick knows how to pack a grill. Box was almost the size of a small fridge. Inside was another box full of styrofoam peanuts. I think the boxes and packing material outweighed the grill 2 to 1.
If you would go and read post # 19 in this thread, you will find a link to the GSCA, who is selling these. Good luck, I've heard they are sold out.
I received mine about a month ago, check out what the box looked like :eek2: No damage, I got lucky it sounds like. I must agree, the packing of these valuable, one-shot items was incredibly poor.......Its not like you can just ask for a replacement!!! :spank:
Dan, was there any packaging materials at all inside the box? It seems to be more and more common these days for parts to just get tossed in a box and shipped, left free to bounce around freely. Looks like you really lucked out, with no damage.
I ordered 2 70 Grills from the GSCA. One for my 70 GS convert, 1 for a spare. I haven't received either. Talked to them about a week ago, and they said I may not see them until they do the run of 71 Grills (whenever that is) due to shipping. I was really counting on having 1 in May when promised. I was supposed to pick them up at the nationals, but got the run around for 2 days. I appreciate their work, and time, but I wouldn't have sold my original cracked grill if I knew it would be a longer wait then promised. Lesson learned. Tony
70 GS repo grille My repo 70 GS grille had no packaging material enclosed. UPS advised me they are not responsible for the damage to by grille because the shipper, GSCA, did not prepare the shipping carton properly. I have two 71 GS repo grilles on order from the GSCA and can only hope they are prepared for shipment much better than the 70 grilles were. Maybe I would have been much wiser to have orderd my 71 GS grilles from the The Parts Place. Time will tell.
gsca grills Hi, Did you call GSCA regarding the damage grill you had ? I called them on friday regarding these damage grills, apparently only 2 persons sent back their grills to them, and they were replace with good ones at no cost. Maybe you should give them a call. Olivier
I'm sorry you have to wait so long. The problem is that to keep minimal shipping cost (from France to the States), we have to send as much grills as possible in one package. So the time delay depends on when you placed your order after a shipment, and the time it takes us to get other orders to fill up the package. you're not dealing here with big multinational companies, if one employee is sick or on vacations (with have a lot of them in France...) then you're getting pretty late. It's just how things are here, and believe me I'm putting as much pressure as possible on the moulding company. Please be patient. Best Regards Olivier
Now I understand why mine are taking so long .....thanks for the update. I just hope all these complaints regarding poor packaging will open the eyes of the shipper on the next group of 70' GS grille's going to GSCA members. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
Just for the records : I was given a mean price of $270 for the shipment of 1 grill to the US. :jd: By doing like it is done right now the shipping cost per grill is around $60.... so the decision is easy to take... Olivier
I am trying to not complain, because this is a tremendous service the club is providing, not to mention a awesome task. I just wish I heard about the delivery dates varying per order date before I ordered my grills, not 2 months after I was supposed to have already received them. I would have still purchased them, but made other arangements so I had a grill in my vehicle for summer. The car sits right now. Its not worth it to me to show off my body off resto as an unfinished piece. Tony
