I just can't take the parts off. Now what?

I already have the 430. It runs very well. I found it in a '69 Wildcat about 50 miles from me. The guy let me drive the car before I bought the engine. It made the 4600 lbs Wildcat move quite nicely. It was going to be a lot cheaper to get a running 430 with hi compression than to get a 455 and have to rebuild it. That 430 will out run a 71 and later 455 with low compression.

This whole thing kind of happened in pieces. I had the Vert but thought it would be fun to have a bit more power. It would cost more to build the 350 that it came with than buy a nice running BBB. With that in mind I bought the 430 because it was a nice running BBB and it was also a hi compression engine.

I than found the GS to complete the look. It was never my intent to freshen up the GS350. I was going to strip it and either take it to the scrap yard or put the Vert parts on the GS350 and try and get someone to buy it for $1,000. $1,000 isn't much for a nice running Skylark.

Let's say you just take the GS parts that you need, then sell me what is left?
Afterall, I have a complete GS hood off a 72 leaning against the garage wall waiting for a car, and a steering column, and a set of seats.

What color combo is the 72 GS, and what do you want for it minus GS parts?

    Thanks,
    Tom

Just an idea, but if you're putting the 430 into it, you might as well keep the 350 sticker on the air cleaner, and go looking for fresh meat among the locals...You might find that you like the auto big block, as much as I do. Unfortunately, the locals see my fender emblems, and don't want to play.:Do No: Dan

I would keep the convertible as is. Add a hood, grill and emblems if you want it to look like a GS.

Take the GS, drop the 430 and TH400 in it, and make a fire breathing dragon.

Keep both cars. You'll have a nice summer cruiser and another to tear up the streets. You'll always be able to get your money back out later if you want to do something else.
