Looking for a speedometer with a speed minder for an early 70 Stg1 4 speed car. If anyone knows of one I would love to buy it. Scott
Your looking for one with the long stem for the pointed lens correct ? I think I have one or two of them and I will check tomorrow.
It's out there in someone's stash. What happened to the orig? I was glad my '70 350 4-sp. (aka (collection of parts w/a VIN) came with its orig. speedo (not much else) & it's a late car w/o speedminder. Good luck!
Don't know why it was changed, somewhere in its past. Trying to put it back the way it was. The previous owner set out to make it a f.a.s.t. car but I can't see any advantage of changing the speedo.
My early '70 Stage 1 4-sp orig. came w/a Rallye Clock which someone along the way replaced w/a tach (fortunately an early one). I'm looking for a clock so that when the car eventually gets restored I'll have one although will be torn about whether to put it back to orig. What other options/colors, etc. is yours if you don't mind me asking?
Dano, it is a Bamboo Cream 4 speed, tan top and bucket seat interior. The car was a very low optioned car with only ps, console, buckets rally steering wheel and a speed alert.
Nice! Mine is Sherwood w/green top (both of ours have body color matching vinyl tops) & pearl white buckets. Also low option: AM/FM/Rear Speaker, Rallye Steering wheel, gauges/clock, convenience group (mirror map & trunk lights), Disk Brakes, chrome 14" wheels/RWL tires, upper peak molding, & remote mirror. Manual steering/no consolette/no F-41.
If you have a 70 4-spd spedo with pointed lens just adapt it to a speed minder one. Purchase a speed minder spedo and take the face off and locate the hole drill it and the lens and put it all together.
I looked at the one I have and its one that is made to look like a 4spd one but its not a original 4spd speedo. I had a few original ones that I sold some time ago when cleaning out some manual trans parts.
