I need more holding power!

The brakes on my '71 GS won't hold the car at the line. The brakes seem to stop the car jst fine. At the starting line they just don't seem to hold the car enough for me to get everything out of my torgue converter. Realized the problem last year at Noble. I have since replaced the master cylinder. That helped some. What do you think it could be? What kind of wheel cylinders work best on these cars? I know S-10 wc's work best on the 80's G-bodies. What about the A- bodies? I haven't really looked at the rear drums. Could it be that I just need new shoes? Fronts are disk and pads fairly new, maybe 2000 miles on them. Suggestions would be appreciated. If you are thinking, this guy doesn't know much about cars, you would be correct! Thanks in advance for your help.

Could it be you just have "too much" power? Did the brakes ever hold it for you?

Truzi, theres no way this car has too much power, look at the sig, not even 300hp to the wheels. I drove the car the other day and the pedal seemed a little too hard, could the booster be going out since the master cylinder was recently replaced? The car seriously stops like it has power drums or non power discs. If you read this and think that this kid thinks he knows something about cars, youd be correct!
