OK so Im diving home from work down highway 51 and Im just minding my own business listening to some tunes and almost ready to pass out behind the wheel and out of no where it looked like a cop car behind me so i slowed down from 70-75 mph to 60-65 mph but he doesnt and hes riding the back of my car. Well i switched lanes and he pulls up beside me for a while and then guns it??? Well i said to myself I didnt know we where racing so i pulled up next to him and I didnt see any stickers so I went for it from about 60-65 i dropped into 2nd and put the pedal t the metal then at about 85mph into 3rd before i knew it he was at least 3 cars behind so i slowed down to get off on my exit before i missed it and laughed he rest the way home and this was in my 72 skylark with a 68 wildcat 350

haha thats for sure I dont think it was a cop driving though, it looked like someone just bougt a cop car from the police auctions with the stolen cars and the old police cars, well at least i hope it wasnt a cop because he got a good long veiw of my license plate:grin:

FYI - I was reading elsewhere's on the 'net that some state police are buying Marauders instead of CrownVic's and using them as unmarked chase cars......the same scenario came up:

Imagine a Marauder pulls up past you and you "feel in the mood" to play......and end up getting busted racing a Police Occifer !?!?!?!

    Have fun.....but be careful too

yeah thats scary to think about this was a crown vic and the guy started it he was gasing and letting off gassing and letting off then he took off plus I usually dont race on the streets or highway but this guy was being a jerk and thought he was cool by riding me and swerving and I wasnt about to let my buick go down in shame like that. Thanks for the info and maybe Ill just let the guy go by next time especially if its a marauder

Don't tell, but I've raced a cop car. Another worker in the city I work for had it to work on and he and I had an imprompto going down the road. It was no contest. But you can't outrun that radio....

In the late 80's I saw a number of 5.0 Mustangs, T-types and Grand Nationals used by the Conn. State Police. Very Stealth looking. They had the windows blacked out and the lights mounted on the rear package tray behind the black out treatment. You only really saw the lights when they were on!

I happened to drive by a speed trap on the interstate and witness a group of these cars take chase after some cars who had not repsponded to the officer pointing them into the containment area they had set up for those zapped a 1/4 mile back. It was pretty cool to see these cars take off and kind of a rush when you looked to the side and realized you were just passed by one with an officer in it during casual highway driving!

The Maine State Police purchased 6 Camaros with all the goodies a few years back when Chevrolet stopped making the rear wheel drive Caprice. I can not verify but rumor had it that only one survived any significant amount of time due to wrecks from hydroplaning at high speeds and "snowboarding" on those fat tires in the winter!

Me too, SEVERAL times.:Brow: NO contest..:boring: And yes, technically you can't outrun a radio, but in reality, well you can't catch what you can't find!! (which way did he go? he was just here?! :Do No: )

    :pp

When we got this new cop onto the "force" (3 cars, 5 officers) in my town, he thought he was king of the roost. So I'm on a hghway outside of town in the D88, and I'm doing 80. He pulls up to a stop sign along that road, and I blow by him. On come the lights, so I hammer it (knowing who it was) and leave him behind. I hit 120 on that run, and didn't see the dude again. Later, my Dad told me that he came into the store and said that he chased me and couldn't catch me. Then went on to say that he'll be "watching his a$$" and said that I had a car that was too fast for a teenager like me. My dad was like "WTF? it's only a 307." Made me laugh, but I got the rough side of my mom's tongue when I got home.

The highway patrol up here has a fleet of ricer's they use to track down speeders. I've seen both a civic SiR hatchback and Subaru WRX all done up and the red and blue strobes skillfully hidden behind tinted windows and sunvisors. They must be quite the bait for the "civic nation" out there. They are usually backed up by a marked interceptor either just ahead or just behind out of sight.

Unfortunately, the fluorescent yellow safety jackets they wear up hear give them away pretty fast.

So GSmcf, why aren't you showing off your car at the car shows at the Pavillions? Buicks are waaaaaayyyy few and far between there. More GNs show up than Skylarks. Heck, a GNX arrived last week. There was ONE Skylark- a 1967 GS.

BTW, my 69 is in storage and not running. When it gets where I want it to be, I will bring it.

Doug, if I was a cop, I'd love a WRX for a car! They're fast, 4WD, and you can beat the heck out of them! Heck, I'd love a WRX anyway.

WRX? Forget that. I'd rather have an EVO if I was a cop.
