My buddy was asking me how to securely transport his rebuilt 455 from Ohio to North Carolina in his pickup truck.

Been a long time for me but if memory serves I think one time I had two 8x8’s bolted to a small heavy duty skid w/oil pan off and spaced the 8x8’s not touching but straddling both sides of the crank and then the whole she bang strapped together.

He will definitely not go for throwing a couple big tires in the bed and trapping that down (I think it’s fine but he is a lil touchy:D

Get an engine cradle, drove mine back from Michigan to Ohio in my yukon not even strapped down, it just sat there

get a old tire or two set engine on it with oil pan sump in the hole. Strap. It makes it like a shock absorber and keeps sump from getting damaged as well. Hauled several that way.

Get a cradle. Absolutely the best way.

Yep hauled many with tires too but he wants to be extra careful with this motor.
Just sent him and eBay link to a $349.00 Evilbay BBB cradle unless y’all know of more reasonable ones?
    Thanks

Those eBay ones are nice. He nakes 'em for 350 too.

    I think Todd's are less $.

Mike Phillips used to sell one too. Not sure if he still does but they were inexpensive.

A Chevy engine cradle will work if you leave a couple of the assembly bolts loose.
