Identifying 64 Wildcat Engine

    Hi

    I have a 64 Buick Wildcat. I have always believed that I had the 425, but my friend who is doing some front end work on it says that it's probably a 401.

    Is there an easy way to tell the difference? If not, what are the less dificult ways?

    Any info you could give me would be appreciated.

    There is a number which is stamped at the front of the engine (in front of the valley cover) which will help you identify what you have. Check this link for details on what to look for.
