I guess its time for me to give all of you an important up date with the event. I have made a very long thought out decision to retire from the event. I have to be honest with all of you it wasnt an easy decision to make, but it was one that I personally had to address. Im not going to get into any of the circumstances or details, but personally I think many of you already know what might a fueled my decision. So with that said, I personally want to thank all of you for your long time support. And for the muscle car camaraderie and friendships that have grown out of this event. Its absolutely phenomenal. But the success over the years of the event wasnt only because of Dan and mines involvement. All of you were part of the formula too. And if not for the majority of you who were coming for all the right reasons, and complying with the rules, this race would have fizzled out a long time a go. And a very special thanks goes out to all of you, you know who you are. Now on a good note, Dan has decided to continue with the event. I wish him and his new partner the utmost continued success. Ill let Dan make his own announcement on his new partner and any future changes. Thanks again and may all of you have a great 2013 Pure Stock drag racing season.

    Sincerely,
    Bob Boden

Wow ..... I sure didn't think I'd be reading this sad news, when I clicked on this topic to read.

The success over the years of the PSD's ,was a winning formula ,because of the chemistry, that you, Dan, and the racers had.

While I'm sure Dan and his new co-organiser will do a good job moving forward, there's just no substitute for Bob Boden.

A few years ago, you welcomed Trevor and I to the event. You not only made me feel part of the group, but went out of your way to bond with Trevor. That is something he or I will ever forget.

Many ,many thanks, for all of your hard work, knowledge, and friendship.

We hope to see you at the event and beyond !

I want to say thank you for all of your passion and drive to help this event become what it is.

As stated before, you will be missed as an organizer. I hope this does not mean that we will not see you at the event.

Dittto to all the above posts and emotions expressed, Bob...and a special THANK YOU from all of us in the Studebaker hobby.

You probably don't remember our first telephone conversation in April 1998, but I sure do. I made a blind call to your phone number that was listed in, I think, Muscle Car Review, in information about the event. 'Never been there, 'never heard of it, 'had no reason to know you or any of the associates.

You couldn't have been more genuinely interested in the prospect -even the existence of- high-performance Studebakers of the era, and were most encouraging that we bring my cousin George's R3-powered 1964 Studebaker Lark Challenger 2-door in September 1998. Of course, Writer Dale Amy christened it The Plain Brown Wrapper after that first year, when he wrote it up in the May 1999 Muscle Car Review.

I called you from the phone in my shop. I was surprised when a real person answered (you). When we started talking, I grabbed the first thing in sight to start taking notes about you and Dan's event; a scrap piece of a Ford parts box. Here are the notes on that box scrap that I took 15 years ago; the very first item in my huge Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race file:

Your enthusiasm for our cars could not have been greater, even though you knew little about them other than Avantis had supercharged engines available. We will never forget your (and Dan's) kindnesses to us in helping get the word out that, while Studebaker was down in the early 1960s, they sure weren't out until they had built more than a few dedicated high-perfomance cars. Your and Dan's event has allowed us to expose them to many people who were never aware of them.

For that, and all the work you have done to promote the high-performance and collector-car hobbies, we are so thankful. Bob, know that your kindnesses are, and have been appreciated, more than you'll ever know.

Thanks again for everything, and we sure hope you'll have more time to enjoy the event from here on out. Take care.

    Very well said Bob P.

We hope that we will still see you at the event Bob. Your enthusiasm has always been very encouraging to me.

I hope that with you departing this doesn't mean that we are going to see ROLL BARS and all-out FAST-LITE passes down the track.
Maybe it's time for certain combo's to find a different venue, as there is nothing stock looking about ROLL BARS.

That is my greatest concern seeing Bob walk away. I hope we don't see deep pockets "rule the roost" and dictate what has been one of the greatest events out there.

ROLL BARS will be the demise of the event.

Just say NO to ROLL BARS and non Pure Stock Cars:Smarty:

Good luck to whatever you move onto Bob, and don't be a stranger.

Bob,Hate to see you go. I have learned in the last year that changes do come, some good, and some bad. One thing that wont change,as long as i can continue to make it up to Michigan in September, there will always be a chair for you at the end of the staging lanes. Cheers buddy!

Bob, thank you for all the years of dedication to this event. Some people go on vacation to tropical climates, other countries, travel on cruise ships, etc. I take a couple of days off work to run the Pure Stock Drags. This has been my vacation for quite a few years now. Thanks to you and Dan for creating an event that is the highlight of my year.
