I'm using the Edelbrock Performer on my rebuild. A little better performance and 40 lbs. weight savings. I'm using a Q-jet too but everyone has their own opinions on that.

If your looking for a custom touch, there are low rise dual quad manifolds for the 455. Top it off with a couple retro AFB's and you'll be sittin sweet.

You're right that a tri-power would look great on that ride!

I did see a three-two barrel setup on a 455 once, but it must have been home made. As far as an easier setup, what are you trying to achieve?

Aluminum manifolds are available in single-plane (from TA Performance) for higher performance motors, and dual plane (from Edelbrock) for milder engines.

Because I value the sleeper look, I had a stock manifold reworked by Charlie Evans, of Automotive Machine and Performance. The combo uses a Quadrajet carb, and stock exhaust manifolds to run 13.0 (so far), and is quite driveable.

Quadrajet and Holley carbs each have their fans (I prefer the Quadrajet!), but perhaps for ease of use, the Edelbrock carb would be the ticket. Got one for my stepson's Pontiac, and am really happy with it.

Whatever you go with, you've got a winner of a car there!

PAW has an Offenhauser Dualquad highrise manifold

    OFF-5882 for 285$

Polish it and it would look sweeet :bglasses:

Just curious. How would those dual quad setups perform on the street? They're not all out race manifolds or anything but would they be crap for street use?

The offy dual quad works fine on the street, the manifold really needs some rework in the bottom of the runner to make it work good. Acouple of 500to 600 cfm edelbrock carbs for a mild engine would be just great. Jim Burek P.A.E. ENTERPRISES
