I had a 77 TR-7 (I called it my death wedge) that was stock.
Generously given to my by my girlfriends brother.
It was a cool looking car, quite slow, impossible to find parts for.
I was going to do the Buick V6 conversion, but didn't.
I had the engine in the garage just waiting. I sold the TR-7, and bought an 86 Buick GN instead.
I had too many cars, and one had to go.

You'll have a lot of fun with this car!!
Would be a hoot to see run at the GS Nationals!!!

Kind of off the subject, but what do you think of a sc 3.8 in a 240sx? These are very light weight cars with rwd, indepent rear suspension. Some of the late 80s versions came with a v6, so it should fit.

I guy I know had one of those years ago. First day out with it, takes me for a test drive and smashed it up....blew a stop sign and hit a nissan. Both cars were pretty much junk, the tr got the worst of it. But boy, the first 5 minutes of the ride were pretty impressive.

the 240sx already has a very durable engine and can handle quite a few power adders. I think it would be a waste of time to add a SC 3800.

my buddie has a late 90's SX and it's a sweet car. 240k on it. and only changed the front main seal. and he's beaten on this car as well.

I bought this car to put the V6 (waterboxguy's old motor) in that acording to him went 15.48 in his full size Regal. I have since added some turbo heads with big valves, ported, polished, and bowls worked along with some HEI modifications. I'm guessing the weight difference alone should pick the car up at least one second maybe more. Its just something to play with, like I need another vehicle? Anyone have any idea what one of these TR-7 cars weigh?

TR7s are cool , my step dad built a wild 400 sbc and installed it for a cust. back in late 89 early 90. Car was awesome only problem was cam and torque kept cracking the paint/fiberglass. Also we installed a 350 sbc ( I Know I Know) into a 240sx completely under the hood. car was a sweet sleeper. Customer opted for a 350 hydromatic and loud dual exhaust instead of the adaptor plate for the stock overdrive tranny and the quiet pipes. Put a 400 in a 4runner also, but Toyota couldn't handle the torque.

To redeem myself (for the sbc posts)my stepbrother and I drove a bright yellow 55 Chevy stepside with a 70 sbb. Really miss that truck. It took us 1.5 years to figure out Dad had installed a long accelerator cable not allowing us to discover the ful effect of the BUICK POWER. Discovering this trick sold me on Buicks! forever:beer
