Iridium spark plugs

    Anyone using them? Anyone know anything about them?

    General rule: Any spark plug that cost more than $3.00 is not worth it. My not be bad but nothing to gain.

    Ah...yes. goonie birds, Split-Fires, Platinums, and now, for your whopping overcharge from way over-hyped performance and insane price pleasure...Iriduim sparklers.

    Yup, greatness in a spark plug, best thing to come along since holes in donuts, yesseree, yup, uh-huh! A real "I just gotta have 'em".

    Did you actually even see the engine they were running in, in the TV ad, a Honda, NOT a Buick.

    When I replaced the OEM platinum plugs in my '96 F150 (4.9 litre six banger) last year at 70k miles the platinum tips were in perfect shape. The side electrodes were burned away as if someone had used a spoon to scoop off the metal. T'was an amazing sight.

    Now I'm not saying that anybody is wrong here, but I do know that the old NGK gold palladium plugs worked better in motorcycles when it came to preventing a fouled plug.

    I had some leftovers from those days that I put in my stage 2. They are heat range B8EV, which is theoretically too cold by about 2 heat ranges according to Jim Weise, but are doing OK. Their appearance would also suggest a bit cool. It seems like they would be a good compromise for a nitrous engine where you wanted a cold plug that wouldn't foul when driving "normal"(whatever that means). I also read recently that they require less spark voltage than a normal plug, which made them appealing with some of the older cycle's wimpy ignition systems. I have a Holley system, so that isn't an issue although again, they might help when on the juice?

    That being said, do I think they will make me go faster? No, not unless they help prevent detonation when on the juice.

    What are your thoughts on this IgnitionMan?

    i use them in my 98 cavalier. i use ngk tr5 for regular driving and tr6 for the bottle. i'm sure you can run tr6 all the time. the difference is minimal. when i switched from ac delco they ran alot smoother. didn't notice any gains but i like them . i won't run them in my 430 untill i hear that they afe compatible..... i don't want to be the ginnipig on this one!!!:pp
